It was another great night for us. Sakai tasked us along with the UMM's to hit 91 as a group effort. The Knights lifted from F52 and I decided to have the Knights fighters escort us. All was going well. Noflyz and his group was tail end charlie and we had the lead. This was going to be fun doing a joint mission with them.

As we approached our target our fighters called out cons. What surprised them that they were P40's and not the P39s's as expected. Still the buff's continued toward the target and did what they do best and blow stuff up. One by one, our brave fighters went down in flames protecting us from those pesky cons. Soon, we got our bombs out and headed home. Soon the UMM's were on target and dropped their load. With the target hardness the way it was, we were not able to close it but that wasn't going to be a problem for us brave mud movers.

Swanee lost 5 out of 6 fighters against those P40s and was frustrated that the guns on the KI43 wasn't doing anything against the P40s. The RTB was called and he alone headed home.

With zero loses we upped again to close 91. We were NOT going to let that base stay open. We knew we were heading into the valley of the shadow of death, but wasn't going to stop us nor the UMM from completing the mission. Chiper had to log so we only had 5 bombers in our group and not sure how many the UMM had.

As we approached the target again and again with our one escort, cons were being called out. Lucky for us, they made a tactical error. They jumped us to close to the target and the Bettie was fast and mean. Soon bombs were falling and with a big smile on my face, F91 was closed. We turned for home and ran as fast as we could. For some not fast enough. We lost 1 Bettie on the run home, but they failed to stop up. Their tactical error allowed us to close their base. Soon, we were clear and the remaining Knights landed after a hair raising flight.

It was fun doing a joint mission with the UMM's and thank you Sakai for yet another fun fill pucker mission.

~S~ Hawk and the Knights of Ni!

I appreciate your work at Moresby and for closing that field!

It was the highlight of the night. I did post an AAR in which I found that in hindsight, I should have sent you all to Goodenough after your first sortie AND sent in Jabo Fighters to finish off the field. But that does NOT take away from your success in closing that field.

Great job, Gentlemen!
