Sortie 1
-------
We took off from F66 in G4M1s headed E then SE, as discussed. The gentlemen of the Sentai (LF) 6 met us and merged along as we approached 20K near F79. From here we started our westward journey towards the target F90. Two of our bombers encountered engine trouble and one recovered quickly but lost some altitude. We turned away from the target and regrouped, causing a 5 or so minute delay. Approaching the target we were encountered by the enemy fighters who were for most part below us. Sentai 6 did a great job of quickly dismissing them, killing some and causing others to dive away. One fighter got on -pd---'s 6 only to be blasted away by him manning the 20mm rear gun. Our second bomber with engine trouble could not recover and was lost in the ack fire at F90.
Strangely the AI wingmen who were with us pretty much most of the journey suddenly drifted away and hence our drop at F90 left 1 Ammo and 3 houses standing. Fighters gave us an all clear and we egressed north over the mountains back to F66 to rearm.
Sortie 2
---------
Flew the same route and passed over 90. We again had excellent fighter cover all the way to the target as we left friendly territory. This time around we closed F90 and moved on to F76 our secondary target. With only limited bombs and the AIs once again having drifted away we could not close it. The fighters strafed down one of the warehouses at F76 but one remained. We proceeded to RTB partly happy about F90 but feeling bad that 76 came so close but did not go down!
Note that the AI wingmen not only drifted away but also lost a bunch of altitude and we saw in the buffer several of them being killed by the enemy
Thanks to all who participated, thanks to the Sentai (LF) 6 and a huge thanks to beaver san for the frame CO role. We felt well protected and had the time to concentrate on the fields (Ammo at F90 took 4 passes during which the fighters watched over us).
