Ideas and Suggestions From a Bomber Group's Perspective: Intell useful for planning bombing missions
High Value Targets: Towns w/Airstrip (9pts): 11 (Total pts: 9) LAF (8pts): 1, 77, 11, 87 (Total pts: 32) Ports (7pts): 3 (Total pts: 7) SAF (6pts): 79 (Total pts: 6) GAF (5pts): 2, 12, 14, 78, 17, 18, 22, 89, 92 (Total pts: 45) Towns (5pts): 19 (Total pts: 5) Arty (4pts): 58, 63, 68, 70, 35, 52 (Total pts: 24) Outposts (3pts): 53, 23, 47, 64, 54, 48, 13, 49, 15, 69, 30 (Total pts: 33 pts)
Total points for top 4 HVT: 54 points Total points for bottom 4 HVT: 107 points
Note: Should we not focus on capping fields 22, 79, 14, while we take down multiple outposts along the front lines? Each outpost only requires a single bomber. The bombers could sweep along the front line in a single group or several smaller groups.
Note: The enemy will probably focus on destroying a large volume of low value point targets. Should we not do the same, just to keep up with them. To focus on the HVT top tier targets in first 3 frames is to lose the war, in my opinion.
The rules say: 14. Closed Fields - fields closed during play will remain so only during the frame. All fields are rebuilt for the next frame. Closing fields does allow each side to move the front for the next frame. The closed fields for each side is tallied and the side with the higher number will capture locations to begin the next frame. The difference between the two tallies determines the number of locations captured. Closed fields are not all worth the same as some are easier than others to close. Their ranking is:
•Outpost or Arty = 1 •GAF or Town = 2 •SAF = 3 •Port = 4 •LAF = 5 •Town with airstrip = 6
Note: Should we not try to close F22 and F14 grass airfields and as many outposts (30, 70, 15, 49, 55, 48, 47, 23, 58, 53, 64) as possible in first frame. Total possible points: 45 The closures will hopefully move the front line further to the West. According to the rules, we must outscore them each frame to push them further to the West.
Note: They will try to close F80, F91, F26 and take down outposts all along the front lines. These are the easiest targets they can take down with minimal structures.
Questions: How will they utilize their fighters? Would it be to their advantage to create a thin line all along the front lines acting as scouts, initially? Then, when a bomber/fighter force is spotted, reform to meet them? How should we utilize our own fighters?
Location of Radar Targets: 22, 79, 14, 77, 2, 1, 76, 12, 17, 18, 11, 89, 92 (No point value)
Note: Highly suggest that we take down radar at 22, 79, 14 within first 15-20 mins. of frame one. And, remove radar from all targets we intend to strike. At some point after the first 2 frames, we should remove radar, to create a diversion as they will be conditioned to expect an attack in the area where the radar goes down.
Other Targets: Ships(DDs or FRs): 2.00 pts Transport A/C(C47 or Ju52): 1.00 pt Tanks: 0.75 pt 1st Line E/A(FW190A, 109G2, FW190F): 0.50 pt 2nd Line E/A(MC202, Ju87D, Ju88A): 0.25 pt Experten, aces, experienced KIA: 0.50 pt Green, rookies, trainees KIA: 0.25 pt Experten, aces, experienced POW: 0.25 pt Green, rookies, trainees POW: 0.15 pt
Note: It appears that none of these targets should be considered primary. They would amount to points that are accumulated in the process of going after the fields and outposts.
Allied Airfields: Towns w/Airstrip: 5, 7 • 1 step GAF: 81, 82, 80, 83, 85, 20, 91, 26, 94, 93 • 2 steps SAF: 90, 86 • 3 steps LAF: 6, 24 (4 should be considered a large airfield not a grass airfield) • 4 steps
