Ok guys, let's start talking about Frame 3. Give me your thoughts.

Hawksama:

This is a bad weather frame, so I would expect limited visibility. I believe this would preclude high altitude bombing. I expect it will be hard to find shipping from any altitude over 10,000'. We will need to see the actual visibility to determine what can be done. There are about 10 static ships in the bay just north of 51. If the visibility is very poor, an NOE attack with torps might be successful and slipping away into the fog could work. Some heavy A6M3's could attack the buildings at the same time, popping up to drop DFused bombs and peeling away to the South West while the torp planes head North west.

We do know there are static ships to the south, we (127) has been there the last 2 frames. Even with bad weather we should be able to find them and put a hurt on them with Heavy Zekes.

If the Knights are going to sneak into 51 (the static ships in the bay), it might be a good idea to have some high Zekes appear on their DAR South West or South of 51.

Looking at the new pdf, it occurs to me that the 'Shokaku' will come within range of the new forward allied airbases this frame. Might be a good idea to at least have a CAP in case they find it

Have we been able to stop there bombers yet from hitting our bases? I would like the 23rd and JG 51 to set up a wall stopping any advances while the the rest take out targets. Just a quick though and will look what others have done over the last 2 frames.

Beaver, you are thinking what I have been wanting to do with the Knights so lets keep the conversation going. I would like to hear from the 23rd their thoughts.

Hawk, are you thinking a screen along the front, outside of their coast watcher station radii from around the 7.6X to the 5.3X area or are you thinking somewhere west of the 5 line?

Its a meatgrinder in the centre from 53/54 to 45. The enemy is always massing there. I thought in frame 2 you did a good job of hitting them where they aint. Knights had a tough assignment coming down the slot right into the Allied mass. I would try and misstep the enemy and not hit him early but arrive sometime in the first fuel window of the F4Fs if you are going deep to their main bases. Fighter vs fighter was better in frame 2 but flying zeros is still hard with those 50cals flying.

127 Wing can fly a mixed bag, last week the attack on the fields at the 'canal I really did not do proper recon, mostly cause I did not think we would get there, even two or three Betties can cause some damage, and flying around things with range of the betty is no problem We will do whatever you need us to.

How about this so far.

1. Knights hit the statics at Russell Islands (51)
2. 23rd based at Shokaku covering the forward fields.

Briar does this sound plausible for your group to cover. We are only around 10 points behind and if we can stop them and hit the static ships north of Russell Islands, I think we can do it.

Let me know what bases we should use. The Knights will stay where they are and take the Kates NOE to the ships. The bad weather could work for us if I do this correct. I need a drink now..
