http://www.squadselectseries.com - new summary up map remains the same.

Frame 3 saw the start of the Allied raid on the French town of Dieppe. Elements of a Canadian division with commandos and even a small detachment of American rangers landed on the stony beaches of France. With little supporting fire from the Allied fleet offshore the infantry could only use their courage to crack the town's defenses. Matters were made worse when early morning fog limited the amount of supporting bombers the Allies could put in the air. Most were already assigned to missions to the west of the town and the landing troops generally only saw enemy bombers during the morning. The lone unit of Luftwaffe night bombers in the area, the venerable Do17s were very aggressive launching many attacks on the ships beached at Dieppe and patrolling offshore. During the day they and some FW190 jabos accounted for 13 Allied ships including 5 warships. But the cost was heavy with 18 Do17s falling to the guns of patrolling Spitfires. Only one Allied bomber was shotdown during the morning as they hit several towns and radar positions west along the coast and inland of Dieppe. Typhoons help with support strafing targets of opportunity, these new fighters have yet to be fitted out with bomb shackles. In the air the Allies won the battle even as their ships were sinking they continued to take a toll of the Luftwaffe. They claimed 24 e/a in the early hours of the morning while loosing 19 to the Luftwaffe defenders.

Because of the heavy loss of life on the 13 ships sunk the Germans win the first battle at Dieppe. But the RAFs victory in the air and the substantial damage to secondary targets in the west keep the British close. The Germans still lead 388 to 340 going into Frame 4.

Expect Frame 4 to be the same. The Canadians are stuck on the beach trying to get into the town. More Allied shipping is being pushed forward to provide better support and protection. Nothing was closed in Frame 3 so everything is in play again.

Good Luck!
