Sortie #1:
At T+0 eleven pilots soared into early morning skies from F16. We headed NE towards the RV with a massive Bomber Group. American Eagles overtook them halfway there and took up station with half our group embedded and the other half high cover. The enemy made an appearance shortly after we broke enemy DAR north of the French coast. Enemy numbers were light but they made disciplined attacks on our buffs with hit and run tactics. We pushed them down and immediately returned to our buffs. Foss-j got a maneuver kill but there was no system message. All American Eagles returned to base with no losses.
Sortie #2:
AE launched after rearm/refuel and headed south to meet up with our Bomber Group. The targets were 115 and 110. We reached the RV just as the Buffs got there and headed in to target. We split into high and low elements again. When the Bomber Group split up to hit 110 and 115 simultaneously, we were forced to split our forces to provide protection. This did not cause much of a problem because we had many fighter squadrons to help. Ack was furious over Europe with continuous attacks by 190's and 109's. The bombers were strung out on egress but we had enough fighters to keep the pressure on the enemy. Several bombers were lost but we managed to get most of them home safe. We got 5 kills vs 5 losses in this engagement.
Final tally (pending Phenix S6):
Kills: 6 (Besea 1, Foss-j 2, Docgxx 2, Rock-- 1) Losses: 5 (Rock--, Pppepp, Count, Foss-j, Docgxx)
Thanks to our side CO's and the Janitors for a fine S3.
