http://www.squadselectseries.com - same map as Frame 1, new summary up.

The USN was the first to spot Japanese Carriers NW of their position. A strike of SBDs and Wildcats was dispatched and while they were just off from their carriers a lone Val spotted the US Task Force and dropped several bombs on the Enterprise causing some damage to the flight deck. The US attack was jumped by the Japanese CAP but the escorting Wildcats did well in pushing through the strike. Though several SBDs were lost a Japanese carrier was sunk. The Japanese strike was not so lucky and ran into the returning Wildcats as well as the circling CAP. Heavy losses to Kates and escorting A6Ms occurred, reducing the numbers of Japanese planes to less than a half dozen. A second large US strike was able to take their time and hit all the remaining carriers sinking them towards the end of the night. Several other ships were sunk bringing the nights total to 4 Kaga class carriers, 4 DD2s and 2 supply ships. As the US planes returned to their carriers the two Task Forces battled it out with the Japanese DDs chasing the largely intact US force. The Japanese managed to get some revenge when their DDs penetrated the US screen and began sinking important suppy ships for the enemy task force. Dusk forced them to withdraw otherwise more freighters would have been sunk. The IJN damaged a Enterprise class carrier and sank a DD1 from air action while their surface forces sank two supply freighters and a DD1.

The US has taken a strong lead 134 to 67 in points. Both Task Forces start in the same start box in frame 2. Frame COs need to decide on position and heading, with one changed allowed during the frame.

Score will be updated when I get back in town on Saturday. Forgot to forward the proper files to myself.

NOTES:

1. Numbers were a bit out of whack from predicted with the IJ having a decided disadvantage. Hopefully this improves in Frame 2.
2. Bomber login was not working at the start of the frame but Dan soon fixed it. It is working fine now so please practice. Bomber\Strike pilots can use the CA login or the regular login with wingmen. Their choice.
