http://www.squadselectseries.com - new map and summary up

USAAF medium bomber units were grounded after elevator problems were discovered on several aircraft. RAF Bomber Command quickly organized a series of quick strikes on V1 and V2 supply points in Northwest France. USAAF P51Ds would escort them to target and prove outstanding in the short-range escort role. During the day they would shoot down 19 intercepting Luftwaffe fighters, the highest tally by any aircraft of the night. The Bf109G14 came second with 13 confirmed kills, the majority of which were P51s but 6 were Lancasters. Finally the FW190A4 made an appearance downing 6 aircraft amounting to four P51s, a mossie and B25J. Lancaster gunners claimed one intercepting fighter while the lone B25J claimed 3. For these 4 claims bombers reported 7 losses, 6 Lancasters and 1 B25J.

Lancasters would return twice in the night on short runs to close three V2 supply depots(50,57 and 67) a V1 launch site(63) and a V1 supply depot. The closure of the V1 supply depot will reduce the launches by 1 salvo next frame. Only 11 of the 15 V1 sites are still operational for frame 4. Most of them in the western Channel area.

RAF intruders were stymied early on when bad weather ground several of their aircraft and the lone Mossie that took off was shotdown soon after crossing into France. In Frame 2 they scored an amazing 20 points so their early loss will certainly effect Frame 3 scoring.

RAF V1 interceptors did very well shooting down 74 of 120 doodle-bugs launched. The Germans changed tactics and launched two salvos within minutes of each trying to swamp the defenses. A total of 10 salvos were launched during the night, two more than in the previous frame. This was to help compensate for the airstarts given to Allied bombers to help keep the frame running when the B25J AIs failed to cooperate.

Overall aircraft kills were relatively similar with 23 confirmed kills by the Allies and 21 for the Luftwaffe. Including the 74 V1s shotdown by the Allies the points for aircraft kills was also close, 72 for the Allies and 64 for the Luftwaffe. Final tally awaits the S6 for pilot losses and BDA but as of now the Germans are ahead in the frame and lead the Allies 279 to 276 for the series.

Updated the Frame 2 results with a slight Allied victory 106 to 100.

NOTES:

1. B25J appear not to be ready for the CA interface. Usually it is the file that commands AI plane types that is the culprit. Until fixed the B25J is removed from play.

2. CA bomber interface appears to be working much better for most players as they get used to it and keep their wingmen close. It was only when the AI were sent off our given commands previously that issues occurred with their behaviour. Bomber boxes did appear a bit too tight so the CM will watch closely and make sure a 100ft separation is between each bomber controlled by a player.

You give the best narratives! I get such a kick from reading how you take an already fun night and turn it into seemingly historical moment. Your frame summaries are the icing on top of the cake, Jabo.

Thanks for all the fun throughout the years.
