S3#99 – Operation Crossbow; Northern France - Spring\Summer 1944
http://www.squadselectseries.comIn May 1943 Allied surveillance observed the construction of the first of 11 large sites in northern France for secret German weapons, including six for the V-2 rocket. In November it discovered the first of 96 "ski sites" for the V-1 flying bomb. Operation Crossbow was begun to eliminate these threats to southern English cities. Heavy attacks on these "Noball" targets was started early in 1944 and it was in the summer that the first V1s hit London.
Allied players must attack Noball targets in France to limit the number of V1s being launched against England. Once the V1s begin launching they must also intercept and destroy them before they hit London. The Luftwaffe must defend these sites and tie up enemy fighters so the Vengeance weapons can make it past the cordon of barrage balloons, flak and the fastest Allied fighters.
This event will highlight the newest WBs addition, the V1 flying bomb. Static and AI flying "buzz bombs"will operate in a new redesigned Blitz terrain with many V1 and V2 sites to simulate the conflict across the Channel in 1944.
Our next event starts June 5th in the S3 Arena at 8:30PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific.
Forum passwords sent out for preliminary planning.
Rules and terrain out on May 29\30. Planning map and aircraft rides are posted on the main page. Basically the Allies most close down V1\2 sites to limit the amount of V1s flying against them. Luftwaffe must protect these sites so their V1s can continue to score against London.
Good Luck
