OPERATION: YANKEE OSCAR LIMA OSCAR
Frame CO: robert

SUMMARY
The DR's will strike the HQ at F220 escorted by the JG 4 and JG 352. These fighter squads main objective is to cooperate closely and cripple the Spitfires during the frame. Meanwhile the NS/Nomads will be striking ships SE of Malta. The LF6 will strike ships SW of Malta, escorted by the JG 23 who will also bomb the convoys. The Bf 109F-4's are responsible to hunt down Wellingtons if these show up in their area.

Dolittle's Raiders:
Field: F7 (5,8,3 grid)
Plane: He111
Mission: Bomb and close the HQ at F220. This is the easiest target so make sure we get it done. If you feel you can take on a larger target please speak up and we'll go for that. Call when you start the ingress from the 7.7x, so that the JG 4 and JG 352 can RV and escort you. Ingress path will be shown on map. If the escort squads must divert to hunt Wellingtons, just orbit north of the horizontal 7-line until the fighters are rearmed and airborne. Bring enough fuel. How long do you need before you can ingress?

Nomads
Field: F136 (9,6,7 grid)
Plane: Ju88's
Mission: Cooperate with the NS and strike shipping convoys outbound SE from Malta. Timing is important, try to strike when the RAF Spitfires are busy. Fast in fast out. Report if spotting Wellingtons ASAP. Keep striking ships until T+160.

Night Stalkers
Field: F136 (9,6,7 grid)
Plane: Ju88's
Mission: Cooperate with the Nomads and strike shipping convoys outbound SE from Malta. Timing is important, try to strike when the RAF Spitfires are busy. Fast in fast out. Report if spotting Wellingtons ASAP. Keep striking ships until T+160.

JG 352
Field: F91 (5,6,7 grid) - rearm field F170
Plane: Bf 109F-4 with droptank
Mission: Bomber escort and air superiority. Provide high alt escort for the DR's, you might want to have a wingpair among the bombers for intel. Take off and climb between the 4.5x and 5.6x. Expect Spitfires up to 38 000 ft, so get to max alt. When the DR's call the ingress, RV with them (direct path) at the 7.5x. Your main mission is to cripple the RAF Spitfires together with the JG 4 so coordinate closely with them. If Wellingtons strike boats in your area, race to intercept and kill them. Our Heinkels will be put on hold and orbit until you are rearmed. Also if the enemy swarm Lampedusa, you might need to help the JG 23 there. If so the 4th will provide escort alone.

JG 4
Field: F132 (8,6,3 grid) - rearm field F172
Plane: Bf 109F-4 with droptank
Mission: Bomber escort and air superiority. Provide high alt escort for the DR's, you might want to have a wingpair among the bombers for intel. Take off and climb in the 9,6 grid, but outside enemy radar. Expect Spitfires up to 38 000 ft, so get to max alt. When the DR's call the ingress, RV with them (direct path) at the 7.5x. Your main mission is to cripple the RAF Spitfires together with the JG 352 so coordinate closely with them. If Wellingtons strike boats at southern Sicily, race to intercept and kill them. Our Heinkels will be put on hold and orbit until you are rearmed.

JG 23
Field: F217 (4,2,2 grid)
Plane: Bf 109F-4 with bomb.
Mission: Protect the LF 6 (Stukas) who will strike shipping SW of Malta. Keep NOE on ingress. Coordinate to RV and conserve fuel as you won't need more than 50-60% throttle to keep up with them. Be smart with the timing when most Spitfires are busy. Once ships are spotted, boost climb and drop your bombs on them, then climb and provide high CAP for the LF6 as they complete their strike. Keep striking ships until T+160 unless orders change on the fly. If unescorted enemy Wellingtons strike any of the western islands, you are responsible to intercept and hunt them down. Retreat NW if the enemy swarm the Lampedusa island. Recommend somewhat delayed take-off.

LF 6
Field: F157 (3,5,1 grid)
Plane: Ju87 Stukas - bombs or torpedoes as you choose.
Mission: Strike shipping SW of Malta or as opportunity permits. Make sure you time your strikes when the RAF is busy dealing with the bomber/escort group. The JG 23 will escort you, so coordinate with them to RV, and ingress/egress NOE. When enemy ships are spotted the JG 23 will climb and drop bombs as well, then CAP until you are done and RTB. Rearm and keep going for Allied ships until T+160. Help the JG 23 to fight Spitfires if only small numbers of them attack you, don't rely on the rear-gunner.

Good luck and good hunting Luftwaffe pilots!

Awaiting answer about probable time from the DR's. If no set time then keep climbing at assigned area until the DR's call ingress. The RV altitude is pretty much max you can get with droptanks. On ingress can even drop the externals and boost-climb to better alt. Spitfires will most likely be 35 000+ ft. Advice keep a single wingpair among the Heinkels both for defense and better intel.

Horrido!

Sounds like a plan.

We should have 3 Nomads to follow the Stalkers.

Not sure about ord, but I still tink a torp run could work. We shall coord with Cool and the Stalkers.

Do you really want to take a plane that can't run away or fight off attackers?
Did anyone try a 250kg bomb against the ships to see if it would be better to take the 109s heavy?
You'll be able to make more trips and have a higher chance of survival.
