Info:

Friendly Dar: 87 mile radius
Enemy Dar: 29 mile radius
Grid Size: 29 miles
Sicily Dar Locations: Fields 209, 195 and 159 according to the S3 SOM map.

Enemy Dar extends farthest south from F209 to 5 miles south of the 9.4X

For future consideration, a noe raid on the F209 Dar would be a big help. The rules say field damage will be carried over throughout the series and no distinction is made between allied or axis fields. Further, in the summary of Frame 1, Jabo has eliminated the random die roll repair provision for destroyed bases. Take out F209 Dar and it should be gone for the series.

Comments Jabo?

PS: Had a look. There's 4 or 5 AAA on site plus a small fleet with destroyers in the harbour. The Dar itself is right on the coast. This would be no cakewalk. It's risky.

I have absolutely no problem with your basing or overall plan.

if we had enough buff pilots we could try to close the airfield at lampedusa. but that's a very risky mission.

Blowing up bases won't do us much good. Making things sink will along with killing the enemy does. Your plan sets us up for that with the resources we have.

looking at this chart I see what you mean zinhwk. I just might have the 475th go up Northwest of Malta when I call them back.

Agreed Zinhwk. Allies get best bang for the buck with aircraft and ships as targets. I provided the info purely for consideration by allied CO's if the risk was deemed by them as acceptable. I was looking mainly at getting us off enemy Dar when we fly near the 9.4X.

With the AAA and destroyers there, the risk/reward ratio doesn't look all that appealing.

New blood is good blood.

Everyone is supportive and appreciates the effort and sweat that goes into Frame COing. Well except Beaver who has a compulsion to being first at bat :)
Looks good to me rcflys.

Often guys take 2-3 frames to look at the points board.

Historically Malta was choking the life blood to the Africa Corps by sinking shipping. Defending Malta from attack was a huge priority so that they could base these anti-shipping strikes. Shoot down bombers like in Frame 1 and use your few dedicated Wellington guys to go sink shipping far and away. Forcing the Luftwaffe to waste a fighter squad to cap far off assests like in Frame 1 is a win win for the defense of Malta. If they bring all their fighters together against Malta the lone Wellingtons should have a field day against static shipping in port. Those at least you know will be there until sink.

All damage is cumulative nothing rebuilds. So take out dar and its done. Remember though airfields have dar.
