Gents - I am piecing this together with input from additional Axis Commanders.

The Bomber and Strike Squads (DR, NOM, NS) will work together for this frame. First Sortie will be to take Stukas with DFUSED 3x250s from Jever (L69). Objective will be to remove FIVE (5) Radar sites at Leeuwarden (L44) and ONE (1) Radar at Rotterdam (C29) ON THE FIRST SORTIE. Please do some advanced Recon of the dar sites and assign one pilot and one backup for each dar installation. It is imperative we blind Allied dar coverage in the north with this early strike. RTB and prepare to take Stukas with Maximum AIs to Amsterdam (C40) for second attack. (SEE BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS AND THOUGHTS TO THE STIKE)

Fighter Group Assignments will come in a subsequent post to this thread. Be advised, one or more FGs may be assigned Jabo duty to clean up fields T34, T36, T35 and T42. I suggest getting some time in dropping the 250kg.

Open for discussions.

Dewa.

EDIT - Additional thoughts - Points are 81.8 Axis to 121 Allied.

The points in this series are close 2:3 when you break it down, with three frames to play. We can recover and dictate the rest of this series with cohesive plans for the remaining series. Ultimately, we want to move the front as close to the Allied Shipping lanes at Mardyck (S20) (port Dunkirk) to Haamstede (M23) as quick as we can...Blitzkrieg.

The First Strike Stukas are intended for the Night Stalkers. If they are light in numbers, then fill with Nomads or Raiders to par up to Seven (7) total, with Five (5) guys assigned one for each dar station, and Two (2) more flying in reserve. @Stalkers - Let me know if you can take lead for this first strike.

The remaining pilots of the Nomads and Raiders will fly Ju87s w/3x250s OR DO17s with load out of choice for a combined arms attack on Amsterdam (C40) when the dar goes down. One pilot and one reserve from this group should strike the dar just north of Rotterdam (C29), the sixth and final dar in the north.

Fighter Squads

Lf6 in either 109E1 (DTs) or 109E3 (DTs) will roll at T+0 from Achmer (L56) towards the 5.6 x, the contested front between T38 and T45. Max alt and over station as quick as you can. You will be the primary CLOSE FIGHTER support for the attack on Amsterdam. Close support is better role for the early 109Es while the E4 squads will support outlined below. Ensure the bomber pilots are NOT engaged by any Allied planes.

475 Rhene (L55) Forward Flighter Sweep. 109E4+DTs Station over the Northern FEBA fight from T45 to T38 and three point track from there to T34, East to T49 and back to T38. Be prepared redirect in support of attack on Amsterdam (C40) or to assist Lf6 OR the Strike package to the north. Be advised - 23rd FG will be to your immediate south as outlined below.

23rd Guttersloh (L71) 109E4+DTs Climb towards Essen (C59) for max alt cat and mouse. Your primary station is to racetrack from T35 to T42 then East to T48. You will need to intercept any Allied fighter forces heading to the North from their fields in the south. You will be asked to just tie them up and keep them below the 5 Latitude line. Only fighter support will be to the 475th to your North.

Secondary Fighter Missions

Later in the frame, I will ask the FGs to strike with 250kgs remaining targets at the front line battle areas and towns of T34, T36, T35 and T42.

As the frame progresses, I will may re-direct a FG to interdict the bombers.

More later...Im tired.

German paratroopers have been withdrawn due to excessive losses. You dont have to worry about giving them cover. Just too hard to coordinate with the FEBA.

Remember 475th FG and 23rd FG can now fly Bf109E4s for the rest of the series. Or not, their choice.

Night Stalkers are very low on numbers right now.

Has pretty much been 2 of us or so.

Low (typical turnout) = 2
Max (unlikely turnout) = 4

Sir:
If I may, I would like to suggest that we are coming into this frame with about a 40 point deficit. We must assume that they can pull out another 63 points, as they did in frame 2. That means that to catch them, we must plan to bring home 100+ points this frame.

The aircraft that the bombers are being asked to fly this frame carry only 3 bombs (the He111 carried 8x250kgs). With the same number of bomber pilots (estimated to be 13), that will give us 39 bombs (vs. 84 with the He111). That means that we can only assume to do a maximum of 1/2 the damage points that we did last frame (if all goes well).

If, on the first sortie, we are using up most, if not all of our bombers to take out 5 radars near L44, that will only bring us 5 points and will eat up most of the clock. Our bomber pilots are not as skilled flying the dive bombing Stukas, just for your information. Therefore, I can't see that we will be able to garner the "1/2 the damage points" that I spoke of in the previous paragraph.

You might consider that the largest point values appear to be for killing Destroyers, Freighters, and boats. Perhaps, it would be better use of the Night Stalkers to search out and destroy those ships. The distance we are from the ships might catch them by surprise, if they can make it there. I don't know how many ships there are available, or how many they can destroy on such a mission, but if they take down 4-5 ships we are looking at between 8 - 20 points with that squad alone.

Then, you could use the Raiders and Nomads to try to make several strikes by putting us closer to the front line than before (far enough from dar, if we need to climb). As several have said, our fighters could be located all along the FEBA to find out where their bombers are attacking and where their fighters are gathering. Then, direct our bombers to locations with little to no enemy population. Or, have our fighters clear out their fighters and send us in to kill ground vehicles (.25 to 1.00 point each).

Looking at the points summary, the majority of our score came from our fighters killing their a/c. The bombers/fighters were able to destroy many ground targets, but I don't see any points garnered from it. Tell me if I am wrong, but shouldn't we have picked up points from hitting 38, 34, 35, 42, 47, 50, 52, 65? I might be misreading the points summary, but there are no points for field targets, structures, etc.

The enemy was able to grab the majority of their points by killing all our bomber Ais and many of our bomber pilots and a huge number of our fighter pilots (total of 54 a/c). We need to deny them access to our bombers and Ais. We need to have someone kill as many C47s as possible.

Just suggesting that we take another look at the preliminary target assignments.

Just to be clear, the aircraft list is here http://www.squadselectseries.com/events/FG2/FG2AC.html

Your aircraft for this series looks like this:
Dolittle Raiders(DRs) Bf110C4(x2),Bf109E1(x1),Bf109E3(x2) / He111H(x2),Do17(x1),Ju88A4(x1),Ju87D(x1)

I believe you have to fly a frame for each airframe listed, so you have to fly the following:
2 frames in He111H
1 frame in Do17
1 frame in Ju88A4
1 frame in Ju87D

so sometime you will have to fly each of the above airframes. Your fighters are the same but listed above.

that is my understanding.

@ Darryl - What Cool said above...over the next three frames, your bomber types have to fly the Ju88s, Ju87s and Do17s. Regarding points, each dar site is 1 Point [EDIT] - CORRECT DAR ONE POINT EACH.

I am asking the NS to take lead for this first strike to blind the Allies in the north with their two pilots and three others from the Bomb/Strike Groups. The remaining bomber/strike pilots will be in-flight poised for ingress to Amsterdam.

Another note on points - 48 of their 121 came from He111 losses. We must keep our bombers safe to avoid another skewed point grab. Again, 2:3 with three to play. Absolutely achievable.

Amsterdam this week, Rotterdam next with a strike on shipping and then for Frame 5, full on shipping strikes.

If we try for the boats now, we run a higher risk for loss of the strikes on Ingress as we fly through Allied controlled and monitored airspace.

More throughout the day. Good discussions all. I appreciate the input.

Radar is 1 or each. If a com hut was attached we would get 2 per but after doing a recce they are stand alone DAR emitters. But who says 109s can't distract the Allied ftrs by hitting some bridges at 34/36 for 2 it's each span. They will be hard to go down but 2-3 eggs per span should do it. Also jabo's pt summary doesn't show all items that were destroyed as in AAA fuel etc. so I am sure he is still tallying that pile of dung trying to figure out who got what between 65/52.

Salute!

Cool has a good map at a larger scale than we need for those who have not parcticed and such.

Gums has logged all the DAR's and is posting a DTF that has small red circles bout each DAR. The DARs are very hard to see on the mainland and not much better on those islands.

I flew a practice using the S3 settings and wingmen in trail, dfuse 10 and basic low angle drop. Nailed three DARs with my 3 x 250 and the wingies in trail.

I shall post the DTF for all the DAR locations later, but stay tuned.

If Jabo keeps that field status file running, you will have to re-command the dotfile and get maybe 8 or 9 seconds of the map.

Gotta dine, but will post the DTF later. Initial test looked good.

Herr Gums sends...

"God in your guts, good men at your back, wings that stay on - and Tally Ho!"

if you have Muz's map (see general postings) the red ramp with a stick on it is EXACTLY where the radar towers are.
