Sorry Dobs, That was us above you, I may have missed any transmission for us to help out. Our orders were pretty strict to stay above 35K and go for buffs only, and not get sucked down low. We thought your engagement may be with a forward sweep and the bombers would be behind them. I told my guys to press on and look for the B29s. We were all in J2ms and our main objective was high altitude intercept of the bombers. After we downed a few bombers, a couple of us did end up going low after some ponies, and ended up in the drink.

No worries...fog of war and all that:) Was still a fun series....where else would you find ponies capping Carriers?:)

My only issue with the series was the CV location far too close to land providing Allied radar coverage of the entire operation. Even after killing four CV's they magically reappear just off the coast while land based radars stay down for the series. Last time I checked it takes longer to build a carrier than a radar station on an island.

In the real world, losses of 30% available fleet carriers would be a disaster and call for pulling them much further away from land.

From my perspective, this series was a tremendous Japanese victory. Operations against fleet carriers were very successful. Allied raids over the important industrial areas were minimal and by Frame 5 the Allies were in a defensive posture, picking on the edges trying to farm points instead of striking the heart of the enemy in Tokyo/Nagoya and keeping very large forces defending carriers too close to shore.

Japanese losses were high but the Japanese were the aggressors in every frame. Although my group got wiped out in two frames, our forward leaning posture in both those frames allowed the rest of the Japanese forces to make hay while the sun shines. It sucks to die fighting overwhelming numbers but its more fun than running away.

I hope those P-47 pilots had their Mae West inflated before they started there take-off run! Once you get a B-25 off a carrier why not try almost everything else. (-: <S>
