S3#94 – Battle for the Huon Peninsula; New Guinea - Summer\Fall 1943

Japan was on the defensive desperately trying to hold onto their rapid advances into Allied territory. The Allies were determined to push them back and use their increasing strength to outflank and isolate their enemies farthest advances. New Guinea was at the southeast corner of Imperial Japan's ambitions and every effort was being made to hold onto it. The new Ki61 fighter was sent there to do battle with the USAAFs latest P38 Lightning. Japan's glory days were over but she was still a threat with experienced sentai and new aircraft ready as always to fight to the death.

The Allies will have to batter at the Japanese defences both in the Huon Peninsula and the crucial port of Rabaul while the Japanese must take a toll of the American bombers and escorting fighters. This series will hightlight the matchup between the Ki61 Tony and the P38G Lightning with the new revised FMs making fights more realistic and challenging.

Our new season starts September 13th in the S3 Arena at 8:30PM Eastern/5:30 PM Pacific.

Forum passwords will not be out until next Sunday but you can practice and plan.

Really looking forward to the new S3's.

Do the Axis have 3 different 1st line aircraft or is it a typo?

I'm a bit out of the loop here.
Assuming the rules are forthcoming?
Wondered how to properly use the first line & 2nd line aircraft.

Prelim rules are on the webpage.

Basically at the start a pilot may choose any aircraft in the AC table, either 1st line or 2nd line. Please note that 2nd Line a/c score 3x the points as 1st line. Call this a minor incentive to use something other than the best of the best in a series. We are not forcing those rides. If a pilot is KIA in a frame he or she must then fly a 2nd line aircraft for the next frame they show. So the max you have to fly a 2nd line aircraft is 2. If you are killed in Frame 1 and in Frame 3 you would have to fly a 2nd line ride in frame 2 and 4.

And if you get killed in the second line aircraft (penalty from previous frame death, or voluntarily flown) you fly what the next frame?
I assume second line again??

AND, fairly well concealed. They aren't on the page with the Series description, and there are no links to "Rules". URL maybe?

It states here "Pilot may choose". I assume this means squads will be mixing a/c within each mission?

If not, what happens if someone in a squad gets killed in frame 1, do the rest of the squad have to fly the 2nd line in frame 2?

Just a heads up guys, from the rules:
12. No GPS - GPS will be turned off for the series except every 15 mins it will be enabled for approx. 1 minute duration. CM will annouce GPS enabled so every pilot can take a bearing at that time. The HUD workaround will be disabled so all players have no GPS until the mark is called.

13. Engine Overheat - a random chance of engine malfunction will occur if you run your engine beyond the specified 145 degrees. Use the various WEPs wisely.

So, no gps, maybe you guys could get a crash course in navigation?

Be carefully with WEP, you can burn out your engines.
