Post subject:  Frame 2 AARs

NOE went well. 475ths bombing could have been better, but DAR was dropped.

RTB'd thru 77 rejoined with rest of strikers.

Grabbed while 4th cycled, ran into strike group and wiped out 1 wave. Engaging 2nd wave when jumped by fighters.....no dar warning.

Dove out, low ammo rtb'd. Sat in twr for abit, saw large wave inbound and tried to sneak out west. Got spotted by2 Kis..they ran us down, killed 1 but rest of fighter group converged and killed us. 39 should be reclassified as a light bomber....pretty much does nothing well.

Wiped out to a man. Had 1 impact with terrain...he wasn't planning on attending..1 accidental eject....and one WTF? No idea what happened to him.

Looking forward to frame 3:). Any squads not Participating please post it early..we have Frame co duties.

Mission: Attack ports 67 & 83
Field: F108, B-25c

Pilots in attendance were: Houndg, Mt-Dew, Muskyz, Coolon

Took off at T+10, grabbed to 19,000 ft. We were about 15 miles from target when a warning came over the radio... Cons at ....... We looked right and a large cloud of cons was passing us... fortunately no one came over to investigate us.

We dropped on 67 and were rewarded with a closed message. Hard left turn then power dive down the side of the mountains. We got down low and ran south over the water in the west. About 10 miles from home (108) we were warned about cons coming into the area. We were able to land quickly and most likely undetected.

After the cons left the area we took off and headed east. Got well away and started to grab altitude. Tried to call for a diversion to draw enemy away from 83 area but there was much confusion over what we wanted and where everyone was located. We dropped on 83 and ran east, then south east towards 96. Several cons were following us so we dove to maximize our speed. We picked up some friendly fighters and landed safely at 96, all of us that is except Houndg who was damaged and then eventually shot down.

Totals:
Port 67 closed
port 83 damaged (ships & docks downed for points)

Losses: 1 B-25c

Pappy will offer the official 4th AAR, but here's a quick look. We started with 11 in P39s, vanguard showed late but was having computer issues as discoed. NOE mission to 77 went well - as planned. Took down all AAA and DAR then headed home ASAP with no loses. 2nd mission defending Port et. al. took off with myself as GCI and vectored west to gain alt. eventua;;y came back towards 89 and scorred some kills in AI bombers, F-6 will comfirm Jedi had many kills. no losses. 3rd mission we escapped south then east and hit 77 again from south. No damage claims and had to scoot home with lots of reds in pursuit. 1 loss. 4th sortie, we tried to seek out south heavy to hit 77 again but were seen but 352 and chaded down bu KI-42s resulted in all but 2 killed. I lanched to attempt kills on low bomber AIs at port but was again spoted by 352 and chased on the deck far SW, Robert was chased to rtb in Austrailian and came back high. We joined and after 352 started to RTB tried to attack AIs at port. Many hits but no kills and I collied with an AI leaving Robert as remaining 4thman. My opinion, the AIs are too hard. Busy night.

Thanks bombr for the summary. That about covers it, but after trying 77 again, we were chased by the JG51 and lost 1 to them. The port was a mess of Red
when we snuck out to the South....looked like the whole IJN force was around. In one of the fights around the port, i was chased down by a couple of 352nd
KI 43s. They were close to being co-alt near the deck with us and I thought I might outrun them, to no avail. Todzla and his buddy were wthin D1-D3 while picking off pieces, until my left wing folded.
All in all was a fun and exciting night for us. Especially when we were able to knock out the ack and radar at 77 with no losses. We dealt with the cards we got and
did what we could,,,,sorry it wasn't a better outcome.

The 23rd upped at Milne Bay at the start of the frame with full tanks and a drop attached in our trusty Peter Four-Ohs. Climbing (every so slowly) generally north westward, we split into to elements to cover a bigger area while sending out 2 scouts for advance warning. After a long climb to 24k and endless banter over the radio, the coastwatchers gave us an all clear for the South East area, apparently Moresby was the focus of the japanese. Deciding we couldn't abandon our mission but in the hopes of dirverting some unwelcome attention away from the Moresby area , we flew high into the Buna area, catching the 2nd (or 3rd...or 4th...lost count) wave of bombers. We lost 2 to close encounters with enemy bombers but tore them up good accounting for approximately 6-8. Our GCI alerted us that the intended response had been acheived as contacts started instantly moving our way. One last pass and haul a55 was the order of the day as we hauled butt home.

After a round of medicinal bracer, the 23rd reupped and climbed slowly (yet again) in a generally western direction. I was forced to delay due to a R/L issue and took off approx 10 min later sans droptank. After a lot of general confusion over the common radio channel, the main group tickled the japanese dar in preperation to lead them away from the NS coming in to pay back the Nipponese back in kind. I was fortunate enough to run into a ViC of Vals @15k and had numerous hits on all of them, downing the leader. By good coms and fortunate timing, the 23rd was able to outrun the Japanese pursuit and scrape some fighters off of the Night Stalkers before returning to field, finishing off the Vals that I had attacked earlier.

Kills:19 (including 18 AI!!)
Losses : 2 [color]

Observations : Otto was much more reasonable this time around but imho, bufftuff is still way to high....it took 4 GOOD passes to down a single Val and I didn't miss much.

We didn't have much opportunity to tangle with IJN or IJAAF fighters this frame but we know that the outcome of dogfighting them remains as Chennault was quoted as saying " Don't attack without all the advantages, you can't dogfight the Zero".
