Orders for Frame #2 Squad Basing: 4th – 3 Steps - F89 23rd – 2 Steps – F103 (Backup basing F105) 475th – 2 Steps – F92 (Backup basing F91) AE – 1 Step – F93 (Backup basing F91) 100th – 1 Step – F88 (backup basing F91) NS – 1 Step – F108 (start) -> F91 (mid frame) -> F91 (end) (or F108 if too many bases closed) – B25C Fighter CAP: NW Squads: 4th, 475th, AE and 100th – Tack 45 - Pick rides. Initial Strike: 4th, AE and 100th – T+0, lift and drop of F77. I would like the 4th to be responsible to take out the MG’s and 40mm’s and the DAR. If they miss, AE and 100th follow up on DAR, if the DAR is down, hit tanks and pontoons. http://www.squadselectforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=929 475th – T+0, lift and drop on guns and DAR at F78. Egress through 77, dropping on tanks and pontoons if possible. Verify with 4th that the guns are down. http://www.squadselectforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=930 CAP and Escort: After the initial strike, I need the 100th to RTB and meet the Buffs at WP1 at T+45 (or let me know how long it will take to get to WP1) for escort to F67. 4th and 475th to cover the port like last frame and AE and the 100th (After escort) to head SE to cover the 4,1 – 5,1 – 4,2 – 5,2 grids. I expect heavy AI / Knights to hit F103/105 area and AI to hit 94. Coordinate with the 23rd if they or you need help. As long as 103 and 105 stay open, you can refuel at F105 if running low on gas. At T+75, I need the AE ready to escort the Buff’s from 91 all the way to 83. Should be a 30min run. You can be loitering in the 2,2 grid, just have enough fuel to escort the NS. Please provide someone on DAR, I will hopefully fly (since we have so few strike pilots). As possible, NW squads can engage F77 to close it or kill tanks/pontoons if the opportunity arises. SE Squads 23rd – Pick Rides. You guys are going to need to cover grids 6,0 - 6,1 - 7,0 - 7,1. I would expect to see the Knights and UMM to show up there sooner or later as well as the AI attackers. IF any of you decide to use the P39 and if things get slow, feel free to attack static ships at 70 or 69 (there are 2 at each) or look for the shipping at 4,4. All of these areas are on AX DAR so you need to stay low or don’t go there. All fighters, Please engage the AI Buffs. I know it has sucked the last frame but Jabo dumbed them down and we must stop bases from being closed. If more than 2 bases are closed at the port, we will not have enough to land everyone. Buff Mission: We are going to close F67 and F83. .DTF File for buffs and escorts! Attachment: F67: 1st mission, up from F108 T+10 (Australia) and head NE between DAR cover to F67. Very small port should close very easy. Times I got from testing. CS 150, throttle 100% (No WEP),altitude 18,000’ to clear mountains. WP1 +29min, Drop +35min, Land (at F91) +54. So we should land at F91 at T+70. F83: 2nd mission, up from F91 T+75 and head SE. This will be a much harder run. We will be on DAR for the final run in to target. Target is a little bigger but with AI we should be able to close it. Times I got from testing. CS 150, throttle 100% (No WEP),altitude 8,000’ to clear mountains. Drop +21min, Land (at F91) +40. So we should land at F91 at T+115. IF POSSIBLE, we should have some time left. At Dew’s discretion, up and close 77. Need to get high and go SE to NW to get the targets I think. p.s. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE WINGMEN! Please let me know if I missed something or someone. Sorry for getting orders up so late, was traveling all day for work. |

475th copies. We are going NOE to maximize surprise. Need to confirm with 77 strike that they are going NOE as well. 475th has a route which will get us within 2 minutes of F78 NOE and a little less than that from 77. Due to having to climb for the mountains you find yourself High above the target area. It works for us in P-39s, 50% fuel, 500lb bomb and max ammo. Peaks us out at about 7300'...right above f77. Here is the route. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ebml3rdk9vvz8 ... E.jpg?dl=0 Email is scott.stevenson01@gmail.com please let me know plans for the 4th, 100th, and AE. Dobs |

<S> Pappyb and Dobs, MuskieZZ (Muskie: thanks for taking the hot seat again ) I just flew the mission off-line w/ S3 settings with P39Q. We will be within DAR range of 77, 78 soon after take off. That's some wild mountainous terrain! With DAR level of 100ft (I believe) or even 300 ft, it would be impossible to stay under DAR. This would result in popping on/off (probably mostly on) radar, and would give them both a vector to us with altitude give away as "deck". We will also risk some friendly losses from incursions with terrain. In order to bomb/strafe targets deep in the valley, we will need to climb over the ridges. This puts us heavy, slow, and at a maneuvering disadvantage. Once we get jumped, we will never out maneuver the IJN superior planes. The ridge lines near 77 are at between 6300 and 7000 ft. May I humbly suggest that we climb to our dive bombing/ attack alt of 8000 when we are off DAR, then come in fast and furious for several runs, then get the heck out. Attack runs need to be done from South to North or vice-verse due to terrain. This is a dangerous mission that cheerfully accept. I just hope we have enough survivors left to CAP our fields. <S> billpe PS: trying to ditch in the mountain with engine out is almost impossible. |

OK...S3 Dar is 500'. You can do this without popping dar until you want to pop dar. See route of flight on this map. Attachment: NOE ROUTE.jpg [ 493.16 KiB | Viewed 2089 times ] Now for the bad news..we have P-39D's...not the Q's. Flown this at least a dozen times with 50% fuel, 500lb bomb and max ammo loadout. You have to WEP climb where it says to make the ridge. The good thing is you come out RIGHT on top of 77...Slight right check, left roll in...and boom boom boom! 475th will lead the way with us going to 78. At the top we check left and use the ridge to shield us from ack....we pop out at 78 and hit the guns and dar. Hopefully we can get a ACK down call at 77 and we will come up that way in the valley killing pontoon bridges and tanks along the way. If you are not going NOE, then you need to be inbound hitting the dar ring at 5+00 since that is the time we pop out of NOE. Just need to know. 4th is going NOE with us it appears. Dobs |

<S> Dobs! 500 ft DAR makes a big difference: almost doable for me. Bold plan sir! I am with the 4th, so will be following, hopefully very close, and not get lost. Will try again off line with this route (I took a different one before) <S> ~b. |

Well, flew the route half dozen times this afternoon, and few more tonite. (but getting more comfortable with it) Have yet to be able to RTB! (and that's with no enemy planes). Not only will we have to dogfight the IJN, but also the terrain! |
