Mission Orders: Attack AI Shipping at 4.1 cross... Secondary: Static Shipping in ports

Based at F192 We rolled a little late waiting to see if Mtdew would be able to make it, unfortunately he did not so Farout led us tonight. Present early were Farout, Coolon, Hobo & Muskyz

Plane of choice was IL2 Muskyz took 37mm anti tank to test vs shipping, others had bombs & rockets.
Half way to target I discoed hard and others continued to target.
Shipping at 4.1 had traveled well out of the area due to 10 min frame delay so we attacked the static shipping at port just north of there. We found and sank 2 boats in the harbor but lost farout in the process. Proceeded south east to find ships when Muskyz & hobo were jumped by about 4 or 5 cons and eventually dispatched.

Houndg & I were waiting in tower for the squad to return, so when they all went down we rolled to find shipping further west from the 4.1 ships. We found a destroyer all by itself and houndg attacked and caused an explosion on the ship but he fell to the fierce AA. I continued west and found the 4 transports and attacked them (37mm anti tank) at first they did not seem to go down to the cannon fire, then I repositioned to hit them in a line one after another. I succeeded in sinking two then my ammo and luck ran out. I got jumped by the cap in that area, probably at least 2 fighters, perhaps just one. eventually I fell to his guns.

Totals:
2 static ships sunk
2 AI transport ships sunk.

All 5 Nightstalkers were shot down.

Note (for consideration): in the future, it may be beneficial to attach several fighters to fly along with the stalkers under radar, then grab while we hit the targets, this should give us a chance to be successful and keep us from being dispatched by just a few defensive fighters.

Thanks Hawk for taking the reins this frame.

Coolon,

Thanks for the effort and as always, you guys did a great job. I really didn't think you would have any problems with cons because being where I sent you. Sorry about that buddy.

Sorry guys with the delay on coms and the script running the ships were way out of position for you to attack and you only found the screening destroyer early on. The boats are problematic at best as AI and this convinces me not to use them again.
I hope you brought an AI with you. It is allowed this series to try and bump up the numbers of strike. Not sure how good they are though.

We did not take AI as we plumb forgot... even after remembering and saying we would on the second hop it didn't happen. :)

but I've never had an AI wingman attack a ship... they don't see it as a target.
if you tell them to attack, they will attack ground targets but I've never seen them attack ships.

When doing torpedo attacks, the wingmen are just another weapon offset whatever distance you tell them to be (they drop when you drop).

I am no expert in using AI, so if anyone has any information on how better to use them we would be very open to learning.

We were instructed not to use the strike command for our bombers, so we didn't use them in that way.

Could we have used them that way?
