We had 12 pilots and GCI scheduled for this frame, so used F212 as our base. We were tasked with bomber escort on egress 1st sortie so launched and climbed east towards F6 area. Had one flight up high and the rest just under 20k. Got bounced near f6 and played a running game west while buffs were down south.
Lost sepua to a broken wing(cracked spar I think) and started to rtb for ammo and fuel. Hogjaw asked if
we could turn south and meet the buffs inbd to F255, as the 352nd was fuel critical. Met up just south of F255 and escorted the buffs north to clear airspace when we rtb for fuel and ammo.
2nd sortie much the same, except we met the buffs NE F222 and escorted to F233 while swatting LW
away as we went. This sortie had sepua on GCI so bombr could fly. Believe we scored a couple and lost a couple, but helped keep the buffs clear.
Hogjaw asked if we could make another run, since the 352nd was down to 2,or 3 remaining and he wanted to hit F6.
We launched with our remaining 8-9 pilots and met the buffs with other "little friends" north of F6 where it was swarming with LW 190s and 109s. Buffs managed to close F6 and had someone sneak down to finish 213, but the fight got scattered all through the center of Crimea. I lost control chasing a LW and went in to the water trying to extricate light from his 2 cons.
4th then rtb and stood down.
Was a very good plan and well executed, I thought. <S> Hogjaw....well done. <S> to all the buff pilots
who stayed their course and got the job done.
