Thanks to the 352nd flight that provided escort sweeps, the Doolittle's Raiders were able to hit and close F93, F94, F125, and F124. On ingress to each of our targets, assignments were given to individual pilots using our recon photos and ingress lines. We were able to make four sorties, due to the close proximity of our home base (F132). We had good communications with our escorts and were able to arrive on target on time for each sortie. There were attempts by the Axis to intercept our bomber group, however, the escorts were able to keep them at bay. Some of our new guys were amazed that we never saw any cons up close. I told them that makes for a really good night of bombing. I am proud of the job the bombers did, as with each successive mission, our numbers kept dwindling for various reasons.
Thanks to Jabo & company for another fun evening. Thanks to Dewold for a well-organized plan for the evening. Special thanks to the 352nd fighters who kept us safe throughout the night.
OSKAR: If it hadn't been for you fellas keeping the bad guys off us, things would have been much different. That's for sure. Thanks again for the cover.
