We assembled at field 86 and checked out our Hurrican1A’s. We were tasked with monitoring an area along the front and react as needed. We launched with 10 pilots, a smaller number than usual, as many were on leave. We climbed out to our cruise altitude and then were vectored to some enemy aircraft probing the 86 area. We jumped into the fray and downed 3 enemy 110’s. We quickly returned to base and rearmed. We launched again, grabbing hard, Again the enemy came to 86, this time with a few more aircraft and again. We jumped into the fray. This time we killed another 3 enemy aircraft, but lost 4 in the battle. We lost one in a collision with a 109, another to a collision with the ground after stalling his left wing in an attempt to shoot down a 109, and then we lost another 2 to enemy fire. The enemy extended out over the front, allowing the remaining 6 pilots to land and rearm and refuel. Then we launched grabbing hard and heading south. Again the axis was hell bent on closing 86 and started the attack again. We jumped them again and killed one more, before radar showed the entire axis coming to 86 with 20+ aircraft and the remaining 6 pilots were way outnumbered. They headed south and the axis was successful in closing 86 and we hand to land at 152. This basically took us out of the fight and we then stood down. We killed 7 with 4 losses, not a bad night, we could have kept the mistakes down, would have been better, but we did have fun! |

Nicely done Kenl & Tigers! There seemed to be a lot of allied pilots on leave. Numbers were pretty lopsided. Sounds like you guys flew smart against the main axis push and came out on top. Was tough losing your field. Basing will need more consideration going forward for sure. Oskar |
