S3 Series

Off line trying out some combos of bombs and education on targets.

Our S3 OT class damage table 1: only shows one kind of bridge ( B1 ).

Found two other classes ( DM ) ( RK )

A B1 shows required 15,000 points to destroy a section. Equivilant to 5 X 2000 lb GP or 3 x 2000 lb AP bombs.

I found a DM and RK type.

Was able to take down a span of DM with an LA-5F and two 220 lb ( 100 kg ) bombs. Thats 1032 points blast power. Example fields are 162, 181.

Tryed various ord on RK type.
Two 100KG , 2 1000 lbers without luck.
I then hit one with 3 x 2000GP and "still no luck".
The RK symbol is normaly for a rock not a bridge. Maybe you bomber types can figure out how much one of these bridges takes before we actualy have to hit one.
Its at least 15,000 points to kill and probably many more. My run with 10,000 + didnt do anything.
Example of RK bridge is field 161.

Lesson: I learned today that a target with a bridge can not be taken down by fighter attack alone. At minimum a heavy bomber unit needs to assault the bridge if RK or B1 type. Any expenderature by fighters , bombs and cannon fire is wasted on bridges. How ever most bridges have healthy ack and fighters could be most useful in a prepatory attack taking out the AAA before the bombers come through.

Many of those "bridges" are three tgts of the "DM" variety, and connected to a nearby tgt. So that's what you may have seen.

I'll check out some with the "B1" designation using "grndlabels", and get back.

Unfortunately, we medium buffs this series can't hit "bridges", not other small targets. Sheesh.

BUFFS cant hit bridges???

That would mean there are several fields that cant be closed at all???!!!

Unless it has a DM bridge its uncloseable.
