Trigr=, Crommm, Phenix, Rock and Timos launched from F14 in Spit5Cs at T + 1 and grabbed northwest to set up for our defensive CAP. Doolittle's Raiders came through with the 23rd so we decided to patrol their way. We ran into enemy aircraft at F73, got outnumbered, lost Rock, aborted the bomber mission and rtb'd to F14 at T + 48 to rearm.

Trigr=, Crommm, Phenix and Timos launched from F14 in Spit5Cs at T + 55 and grabbed south to assist Doolittle's Raiders and 23rd whose route had been altered due to heavy enemy activity leaving the Spit 9s short of fuel. Rock was on GCI. After several target and route changes the buffs split up and we found ourselves with only one buff to escort. We got him in and out but were unable to rtb to F14 due to short fuel so we requested and received permission to land at F89 at T + 125 anticipating that we would ferry to F14.

Trigr=, Crommm, Phenix and Timos launched from F89 in Spit5Cs at T + 125 and grabbed north to ferry to F14. En route we encountered a larger enemy force, attempted to egress and ended up fighting them in the ack over F78. We lost Trigr= in that fight, Crommm got disco'd, Phenix rtb'd to F12 at T + 155 and we stood down.

Kills: 0 (Crommm.)

Losses: 2 (Trigr= and Rock.)

Thanks to Pappyb, the RAF CO and Jabo and Roan, the S3 guys, for a fun third frame.

Comments: It looked like a lot of the LW flew 109s this frame. They only get two frames in the 109G2 ETO and most of them have used up all of their 109s. We can expect to see a lot of 202s from here out. For jabos I think that they have a frame of 190F8s left and a frame of Stukas.

Sadly, mine wasn't a disco Trig. Pilot malfunction all the way. I was using a buddy's brand new computer while on vacation and forgot to remap the eject key away from the default key of 'Enter'. The 'Enter' key is an auto-repeat key on his machine when you hold it down. I use the numeric keypad for looking around in flight. At the 2.5 hr mark of the frame, I looked over my right shoulder scanning for enemy and suddenly found myself floating to earth in my chute. My fingers had shifted one key to the right and I hit the 'Enter/eject' button.

Sad way to end an otherwise great frame.
