Post subject: | Frame 1 AAr 4th FG |
he 4th was split to 2 airfields, since the large ones were needed by the buffs. We took off from F18 and F19 and GCI(bombr) vectored us to join up south and slightly east of 18. GCI turned the group towards the tgt area to cover the DRs on there strike at 153. We were up high(around 25k) when bandits showed up at F50, so I sent the 336th to check them out. Sepua got his troops to the area, but spotted a lone bogie and he was scared away, but 2 more were spotted about 5k and 336th engaged. They then spotted a horde of bandits approaching from the west and GCI ordered them to extend N/E to meet the rest of us. We had 3 kills and lost 2 in the skirmish otwt 32. The group had to rtb for fuel and ammo, after which we launched again to the west . Second sortie was more of the same. We found some 109s well above us and were engaged. Again..won some, lost some. The Yak turns out to not be a great match for the Gustave at altitude and Jerry knows that so tried to keep the fights up high. We also had acouple of deaths at 18 due to a terrain anomally...ie: an invisible ridge above the runway height at the east end of the main runway.. Don't land short.... Thanks to Robert for stepping up at the last minute to try and organize a plan.... well done Robert. 4th wound up with 7 kills and 12 losses. Thanks jabo for an exciting new terrain and battle. |
