Nightstalkers have frame 4, guess thats me. I'll wait to see the cv & front line locations before making anything more than a rough guess. Please feel free to comment or make suggestions here. I would like to get together with the C/Os as has been done previously... more later. |

Here is what I'm thinking. Nightstalkers & nomads at 38/40 to hit F37 & port33 at some point. Fighter squad (2) steps at 38/40 with another (1) at 45 CV DR - 2 steps tbd - Strike static shipping at 785 - Static shipping at 25 later - possible attack enemy CV That means you will need to split between CV and 53/54... (sorry, but I cant see only 1 step of fighters at CV) fighters 2 steps here. unfortunately that leaves the remaining steps (4) at 53/54 Steps AE = 1 4th = 3 352nd=3 DR=3 Nomad=1 NS=1 211...only one pilot this series, but he has flown Axis. My thoughts as to how the frame will start.... CV.. DR launch (your choice of airframes if you want to split between SBD & TBD or all TBD) to take out static shipping at 785 (8 ships I think)... go north then west to target to not give away our CV location. CV fighters.. need a few over the CV but I'd like some (close escort) to go with DR and some to sweep 785 (STATIC SHIPPING) just prior to DR arriving on scene. DR will probably be low with torpedoes. I would also like to have the area around those ships scouted for the enemy CV... (as much as is feasible) 2nd... shipping and ground targets at 25 (shipping is priority) Be alert to enemy activity in front of the path of the CV ... strike targets may change mid frame. Western Front Fighters immediately move forward and establish air superiority over F37 and West... Allow Strikes to take out AA (2) at 37 .. strikes will try to repeat attacks as often as possible. When prudent, attacks will move west to the port at 33 and possibly the airfield at 28 (to be determined) A roving CAP will be needed to also protect the static shipping in the front lines of the slot (north of 38/40) Just be everywhere and do everything Fighters are clear to bring ordinance and strafe targets of opportunity. Fighters based in russell islands are to protect shipping assets to the north as well as the russel islands.. I would try to move west and north at low power to conserve as much fuel as possible... supporting where needed and as fuel allows... (this will probably be a disapointing assignment, but the base steps are what they are. DR... you may want to start your 3rd step in the russell islands and rotate them with a step at the cv...or have them refuel at the cv to join 2nd strike... we can talk about this and determine the best course of action. All squads please speak up and point out holes and or make suggestions as I am not tied to any specific action yet. |

Sry, could not get my headset working last night. I for one would rather see us going after shipping Vs land targets. Points made from shipping for exceed land tagets for each sortie I would think. |

Just a couple of thought on basing....Due to the severe limit of range on the F4F. I think it would be wise to base fighters on the Cv's (at least 2 steps) and your Front line bases ((F-39-40-45)). <<<<<< I would at recommend at least 4 steps of fighter here. This would leave you one step of Strike AC at a forward base to hit 37 with. Base the rest of your strike AC in the Russell's. They have the range to cover the map with ease. If you base all your strike aircraft forward and fighter escorts to the rear. I think this will be met with dire consequences. Your bombers will be at the mercy of our Japanese friends due to the lack of time we (fighters) can actually provide effective support. Just an observation... Jap bases of 37 and 28 can support 3 steps of fighters. That could very well total 18 Zekes..... they would be on top of your TBD/SBD in a matter of minutes... <S> -Epic- |
