Allies,

We need a Frame CO... you can fly a buff, but we need someone to plan the mission route. Also we could use someone on GCI since we should have DAR in France. Will help us see incoming NME fighters.

Thanks

Since I haven't heard from anyone... I drew up a few different buff routes and timed them...this one is really the best way to get rtb before end of frame. Its a 500 mile route there and back so buckle up guys!

Maybe we can send heavy fighters or a small rogue group of buff for the oil refinery in the middle ..or not worry about it....

Just a quick thought.
Things always get screwed up ...

Inbound route should have some turns in it to not only confuse radar but more importantly allow bomber and fighter stragglers to catch up.
Bomber speeds do not allow for quick recovery.

Obviously some 10 degree turns to throw off HO attacks would be on a whim rather than totally planned.

Food for thought

also, how many buff pilots will we have and how many AI.

the route seems ambitious.

also, the buffs need to get as high as possible. usually need a racetrack before heading east to let the fighters catch up to us.

It’s just one of many possible ways to hit the targets. And only my suggestion. We could split the buffs up to go for diff targets too. It’s up to the buff guys. It is a long flight. The route I have would take 2:45 to accomplish. So maybe an alternative would be better? Let’s see what Darryl comes up with.

Testing the survivability of the buffs in the legacy arena tells me a few things:

1) The buffs are going to need to be good and tight in one larger group. A loner (tested with a B17 by a few of us) can be downed by a good
pilot in one pass especially with the gun packages available to the Axis.
2) Escort should be on station halfway to target and stay available most of the way out. Downed fighters should have a rendezvous point
and be used for whatever develops as being appropriate.

Would it be advantageous to head in due E towards the Oil Refinery NW of Hanover as one large group and split into two for separate target areas? This might also cause
some mayhem for the Axis deciding what to do. Downside is they may all hit one of the groups and decimate them. Upside of that is they only hit one group or they mess up their attack and have to chase the buffs.

Just thinking out loud and at 1:00 am.

There could be an advantage to splitting up like that. Also we have B-24s. what is their survivability compared to the B-17?

one last thing...robert did an update to the b-17 yesterday I believe and is now a bit tougher in certain areas that were considered 'too weak'

We escorts could really use a buff route from the CO so we can plan ahead.

Also...you could do my route in reverse..striking from the N and the landing in France instead of flying all the way back to England.
