FRAME 5 - BATTLE OF RANGOON (Japanese Offensive) June-July 1942 To: American Volunteer Group, RAF 67 Squadron, We’re backed into a corner gentlemen. I am recalling 1st and 2nd AVG. Launch from Kunming asap and get south to defend Rangoon. You can rebase at Toungoo F117 with the 3rd AVG. I need you to coordinate with the British 67 Squadron to defend Mingaladon Airfields and the port of Rangoon. You also need to keep protecting the supply lines along the Burma Rd. There are reports that the Japanese may have a limited number of zeros that have just been ferried into Hanoi. Watch out gents. Those zeros are as fast as they are nimble. They still don’t have any armor or self-sealing tanks, so keep up your speed, hit ‘em hard and get the hell out of there. Don’t get caught up in a dogfight with them, our goal is to defend Rangoon! This might be our last fight as volunteers. I hear the army wants to absorb us into the AAF. We’ll just see about that. Allies objectives: Defend Rangoon and surrounding installations. Defend supply trucks while destroying enemy fighters and bombers for points. Scoring Frame 5: • Axis destroys 15 objectives: Axis earn 3 frame points, Allies 0 earn frame points • Axis destroys 10-14 objectives: Axis earn 2 frame points, Allies earn 1 frame points • Axis destroys 4-9 objectives: Axis earn 1 frame points, Allies earn 2 frame points • Axis destroys 0-3 objectives: Axis earn 0 frame points, Allies earn 3 frame points • a running tally of kill/destroyed points will be kept and added up at end of series. Aircraft: Allies 2X P-40E 1X P-40B 2X Hurricane 1 1X C-47 Skytrain penalty plane 3X B-25 Axis 1X A6m2 (*There is no evidence of the Zero in theatre before Oct 1942 but added for gameplay) 2X Ki-43-Ic 2x G4M1 Betty (2x Ai's) 2x D3A Val (2X Ai’s) 1X Nakajima L2D penalty plane |
