6 P38L's launched from M25 with mission orders to protect assets from TAC 51 to the secondary airfield at 4,3.8.4 and TAC 43. Pilots involved were Kelly, Doobym, Vangrd, TeBird, Grilem, and KK. Having found our assets, Kelly split the group between TAC 51 and the secondary airfield. Kelly then rtb'd to GCI for the 38's. Doobym took control of the flight. Numerous cons were popping up all over the North and NW of the the map and I attempted to keep the information updated in the buffer (I think I wore my keyboard out). Doobym kept the 38's moving from one possible con incursion to the next while Vangrd and KK secured our assets at the secondary airfield. Due to the superb allied cover to the N and S of TAC 51 very few cons were able to move into our area. There is one con of note. A gold 190 made its way from TAC 45 down to TAC 42. He did not appear to be engaged so I vectored Doobym and his flight to the position between TAC42 and TAC45 where they quickly spotted the fast moving 190. The 38's gave chase as I attempted to vector other fighters in the area to the con. The 190 had some brass balls for certain. He made a loop thru our fields from E to W from TAC35 to TAC42 down thru TAC43 and E along the 4 line. Try as they might, the 38's could not catch the fast mover. At the 5,4X the 38's broke off their engagement and returned to protecting our assets. During this mission, no assets were lost to enemy contact within our defined mission borders. It was great having Doobym back and leading a mission, it's been awhile. The P51's escorting the buffs had a more exciting adventure as the chatter would indicate. Pappyb will have to submit that AAR. S all!
