4th FG based out of F34 rolled T+0 and climbed towards F1 expecting the FW to attempt to close. However the LW instead headed towards F32. 4th vectored to 32. Initial contact had 109s a few thousand feet higher so we climbed West towards 68. Once high enough, we flipped and engaged the 109s S of 32.

We experienced waves of He111’s with escort again attacking 32. The allies fought bravely, bringing down many attacking bombers and escorts, but were overwhelmed by both high bombers and low staffing fighters.

During the fight, a massive force was reported of the coast of Belgium. We decided to take the fight to the enemy as they climbed. We headed into enemy territory and engaged the Hun bombers as they were getting formed up for an attack on our beloved England.

F32 was eventually closed.

As the 4th was just heading to 19 to rearm from the battle at F32, a surprise NOE attack on 19 caught us with our pants down. Stuka’s pounded the field as we raced to defend it. The few 4th that did catch the stukas, were low ammo and could only bring down a few after they had already hit 19.

19 closed.

The 4th rearmed at F34. In the heat of the battle there were reports of enemy approaching, F34, F68 and F1. The 4th capped 68 while sending a force to F1. Once 68 was deemed safe, the rest of the 4th headed to F1. A fight ensued with high 109s. We traded kills, eventually driving the Hun back. Several unescorted He111’s were spotted RTB low in the middle of the channel and we took the opportunity to pounce. As we were destroying the last of the NME buffs, enemy escort finally arrived and jumped us and a fight ensued until all aircraft eventually RTB at the end of the frame.

The LW did a fine job of keeping us off balance. Attacking bases from low and high, and at several different areas. Again our small caliber machine guns were no match for their aircraft. It took several passes on the buffs, exposing our fighters to enemy fire. And it took up to 3 spits to bring down the heavy armored 109s.

Nooky:
This was an exciting frame for us. Great job whacking our bombers.
