Based at MAF 24, we launched as Decoy for Bomb Group and climbed to west.
After passing L 19, we made a right turn to our assigned flight path NE. We showed
on DAR on time at T+35 as the 23rd arrived as "escorts" and all proceeded to 5.6X and then
East towards waypoint D3. As we approached the D3 area, dobs called to angle SE to
intercept the buff group inbound to Berlin. Joined with Buffs and set up close escort to
relieve 352nd. From there until egress west we were swatting flies away and staying with buffs.
At one point on egress heard madcat's call for help down low, but he was too far away from us
to help with short fuel supply. We had a couple of discos who had relaunched from L27 and
came to meet us. As we neared the Front line, I called the 4th to select a close by field and recover for the night
as we were fuel critical at this point. We landed and stood down.
Was a good plan, but we drew no LW up north. Seems they attacked our bases and only sent a smaller
force to the buffs.
Everything worked as planned except for no takers to our feint. Good comm between fighters and buff
group made it easy to coordinate the escort duties.

I was sure we were gonna have our hands full, and was expecting to be engaged with all of the LW fighters somewhere at least near D2. Guess we shaved our legs, and hemmed our dresses short for nothing. You know you're flying with an ugly looking lot when you can't even attract a LW fighter pilot! Maybe next time we should take a bath as well?
