-- Gentlemen,
352nd Fighter Group took off at T-0 and immediately took position on north (left) front buffs group center. Buff flight path to direct Field 69. Knowing we were 8+ miles ahead we turned 270 to re intercept buffs and ran into Enemy, encounters were within T+20 minus. Moving toward the buffs and attacking aggressively we pursued once through buffs and then saw secondary enemy fighters inbound. Turned toward and attacked. These tore straight down to the deck and some pursued when there were 3 or more diving. Good teamwork and cover enabled us to score 3+ kills and replane.
Sortie 2 I chose to recon deep in a P-38 and see if I could get a better understanding of enemy response times and flight angles. In this pursuit able to keep 10+ busy and direct further forces to engage what became 15+. Believing this to tie up 40% of the enemy force I ordered 352nd to hard engage to destruction. Enemy forces were up to the challenge and fought well and hard. Losses were light and 10+ kills scored.
We then rearmed and came back with fresh mounts. Encounters went to zero. we patrolled until end.
