Thinking ahead for frame 5 (not to be mixed up with upcoming frame 4)

If we send the bombers in DEEP into Germany how do we arrange our escort.
Obviously we would like escort around the bombers constantly, but how do we arrange for that to happen?

Do we break it up into different shifts? Early/Late...???
Fuel concerns? how will this dictate what will happen?
Send out an early sweep to return to base and be the reception escort?

The Luftweenies being able to die and rebase all along the route adds some tough issues to deal with.

From past experience I think the B-24 would be the obvious choice for that mission.
Do we send two different bomb groups and merge them or distance them??? that seems difficult with the numbers we have.

Thoughts?

Last two frames will probably require Drop Tanks in some way (possible take off with 2 and drop one immediate).
With the way things have been in this scenario suggest escorts on the four sides of the buff box with possibly one flight/squadron directly above.
The possibility/probability of forward sweep engaging well before enemy sees buffs is very low, therefore, the front escort is there to follow the enemy through the first pass on the buffs.
The top will be the next attackers of the enemy, then the back and sides will be able to clean up level enemy turners trying to come back from rear of buffs.

Because of numbers (lack thereof) ALL fighters should go. Then those who need or have to rearm or come up in next aircraft will be the reception.

Good reply Juice. Coolon remember only the dedicated bomb groups can use the b-24's. FWIW
