Gentlemen,
352nd Fighter Group upped F24 toward areas 114 to 112. Reports of enemy activity was constant from 53 to places north.
Our task was to be flexible and move toward trade in any direction. To this end, we kept shadowing the enemy and being a buffer to the incoming buffs.
At or around T+35 we saw our first engagement with 4+ south of 45, the engagement going to the floor nearly immediately. Two or three scores insewed and many of use found ourselves low with incoming enemy.
We began a fighting withdrawal from north 45 to 114, during which the enemy came with E time and again on members with little or no ammo.
Two plus claims were proffered and all came home ok.
Sortie 2 we were under enemy fire at take off and reports of incoming or allied in trouble near the 48 areas. We were able to move south and engage randomly from 53 to as far south as 119. Several claims occurred here and loss of 1 aircraft was seen.
Sortie 3 many rearmed at 119 and some at 114 we began a buffering action in the 48 53 54 areas with ack being very heavy and enemy moving to these large ack fields often and quickly.
Against better judgment we pursued the enemy as low as possible and claimed 3+ with a lot of damage to aluminum.
We kept up our pressure to ensure buff and allied return home capability and landed at end of day.
