Post subject:  Jabo AI Questions

1. Do the routines have to be straight lines (starting field to target field? i.e. can I specify a way point?
2. Rules state 1-4 AI missions. Can I do multiple simultaneously? What are the numbers in each mission?
3. Can I specify the altitude? (would like to put these as low as I can get them w/o causing issues)
4. What aircraft types am I restricted to? Just Wellingtons? Are hurri's with bombs within the possibility?

Ultimately I would like to attack the airfields at Dover area and use low level bombers. Would like two large low level routines coming from significantly different directions and arrive simultaneously. These will be unescorted, until they arrive in the target area, where I plan to have the entire RAF.

If you think AI would work properly, I would launch attacks simultaneously with AI hurris on a ground columns.

It is imperative that the LW not be able to use fields on Britain after frame 2.

Unfortunately for both sides the stukas and wellingtons got overloaded and couldnt launch as I had too many other AIs going on. When they did launch they got distracted by the same AIs and missed some more important targets.
From now on I will have them on see the field targets and nothing else. I hope that works.
Answers as follows

1. Do the routines have to be straight lines (starting field to target field? i.e. can I specify a way point? Yes you can, just dont too elaborate as I will not be bang on when designing them.
2. Rules state 1-4 AI missions. Can I do multiple simultaneously? What are the numbers in each mission? Yes you can. You can try and flood the defenses. I am only putting 8 in a mission. Too many AI running to get more. Last frame we had at least 120 at one time.
3. Can I specify the altitude? (would like to put these as low as I can get them w/o causing issues) Yes you can say NOE and I will test them as low as possible. I will see if they ignore ground forces so they dont get distracted this time.
4. What aircraft types am I restricted to? Just Wellingtons? Are hurri's with bombs within the possibility? You are restricted to Wellingtons and Swordfish.

Good questions and good luck

Straight line or not 4 AI routines can be carefully be programmed to take out 6 & 18, but we are certain to loose every single one. It would take a minimum of 2 (but 4 is better) to take down 6 and you would perhaps need 6-12 to take 18.

They Wellingtons dive down to the deck to bomb and even a single ping by an ack will kill them all when the routine unloads. Plus as Jabo has already said they are very easy to pick off as they are on the attack path.

Last frame we lost 24 points from AI kills. Given all this IMHO AIs should not be used at all. Even if we close 6 & 18 w/ them we get 7 points (plus of course the fields are closed).

just my 2 cents

fooo, <S> Thanks for stepping up and filling this frame. 127 Wing RCAF and the attached 8th FG stand ready to comply with your orders and look forward to doing our duty.

Understand nofly. We need to keep this fight lower where we had the advantage. I'm still going to use AI in attempts that we close the airfields. Also using hurricanes (about 1/3 our fighters). Will mass EVERYONE in the target area at once and it will be a knife fight. Not after points and we might get behind this frame... would like to make the last 3 frames have the LW fly from France and not be able to use the 2 fields they have on English turf. If we are successful, we will be able to wipe their GV's off the map in subsequent frames and focus on closing the port and sinking ships.
