OK, normally I don't really care about me, I expect to die most frames which is fine as long as I can have fun doing it. Last night I got frustrated with the buff's for probably the first time. Last night we had a great little group if B25's head up to Nagasaki to kill AI shipping. Was going real well for about 10 min. We were sinking a lot of AI shipping when we got jumped. Normally we get jumped by a squad, last night we got jumped by 1 plane, DrDart. He shot down every B25 in the area. Got me 3 times. How can the B25 be that bad defensively? it flies like a brick so once spotted we are dead. Nothing we can do. We should leave the ammo at home to save weight. Maybe I stayed too long, sure, maybe we all were to spread apart too much, sure, but I think he got 8 B25's. craziness. A random bullet from one of our guns should have got him eventually. UGH, thats all I am saying. I think last frame I will fly a F4U-1D. wont last long but wont feel as helpless either. |

I think we have a general consensus that the Otto weenies suck and that JABO should increase Otto and buff tuff for last frame. What think? |

Drdart got me too as we decided to finally egress... Even at my high alt, somehow he came zooming in and shot me down... Must have been grabbing forever getting intel reports from the cons I was bouncing waiting outside of visual until he someone reported us below 25k or so. |

Something is off if 8 groups of 4 aircraft Otto let IJN aircraft saddle up and shoot down 6-8 each unscathed... |

Jabo must step up to the plate and right this AI buff problems or we are in danger of losing even more folks. Points for downing an Ai should be much less than they are now. Jabo making the decision to let the second AI routine run when asked not to by fooo is ridiculous. He is the frame CO which I thought meant something like he runs the show for his side. The fog of war changes things on the fly and fooo should have had his request honored...it isn't like the AI routine was set to run all by itself now was it? This changes my perspective somewhat on frame CO'ing and I've only done one frame so far. <S> |

Salute! We feel Musky's pain. No sh!t. I was amazed at Dart's sucess. Musta had good GCI, and then the wimpy buff otto. Oh well, he only giot me once in main lead buff, and second time in one of my wingies. Secondly, the new Mitchell FM has a greatly reduced roll rate and such. Flies like a B-17 or B-24. Oh well. We few brave buff-a-holics sunk a good many boats, so we should get some points. Gums sends... |

That second AI routine was 32 x 1.5 pts. We knew before they were launched that our escort capability was non existent. Frame co should have been able to cancel the mission. |

I agree Fooo. Plans rarely survive, unchanged, past the moment of first engagement. In real life, no commander would have launched that second AI sortie once it was established that no substantial escort was available. The result would be, and was, a suicide mission. We should have been allowed to scrub the AI mission, especially since the few remaining pilots volunteered to attempt a shipping raid even though the low numbers indicated Standing Down to be the appropriate response. In sortie #1, American Eagles launched 10 escorting the first AI TBF raid. As stated by Jabo ingame, we engaged nearly the entire IJN air arm attempting to protect our charges. We shot down 11 EA for the loss of 6 of our own. Our survivors only just made it back to the carrier all shot up and leaking fluids everywhere. In sortie #2, American Eagles launched 4 on the shipping raid. We lost 2 in that engagement but we accounted for 2 EA killed and 6 ships (including 3 DD's) destroyed. From a survival standpoint, only 2 of our guys made it home for Frame IV. But, we made them PAY. Crommm American Eagles PS: Was one heck of a battle!! PPS: Jabo has posted his summary in the General Posts section. His numbers are different from mine. Will have to wait for Phenix and the S6 for confirmation. The above numbers are as I remember them and from rough notes kept during the frame. PPPS: Edited to reflect S6 stats. Thanks Phenix. |

Muskyz the otto settings have remained the same for the entire series. Not sure why they would appear weaker than previous frames. I think all bomberstrike pilots flew B25s each of the frames. Was Drdart in one of the 4 cannon IJ beasts. B25s should not be easy to shoot down and have effective otto so its something to look at. |
