Kyushu High Noon – Frame 2

Allied Operation: Bar Brawl
The objective for frame 2 is to jam our forces together right up the middle and punch them in the nose. This should gain their attention and appear as a maximum effort to close airfields in the target rich area of Cape Sata Bay. All fighter squads will be operating in this area to give maximum coverage to all our bomber forces. While this attack is spotlighted we will also be making a long left hook to try and get in the rear areas and sink a lot of shipping.

Naval Task Force
The carrier task force will be starting at the 4.3 cross heading Due NORTH at 30mph (will cover 80 miles). All Fighter squads have the option of flying navy fighters from the aircraft carriers.

Army Air Corp bomber Missions (AI)
Orders have been given to several groups to destroy the airfields at F183 & F182. B-25j bombers will be level bombing these targets from medium-high altitude. There will be two missions; each mission will consist of 3 groups of 8 B-25 Mitchel bombers and must be protected. Missions launch at T+30 and T+120 (Jabo will provide more details)

Order of Battle
Fighter Squads have their choice of aircraft Okinawa based Air Corp: P-47D --or-- Carrier Based: F6F or F4U1
4th Fighter Group: -BASED at F191 or CV
23rd Fighter Group: -BASED at F191 or CV
American Eagles: -BASED at F191 or CV
(f194 & f195 are available if the P-47 can handle the runway)

Bomber/Strike aircraft:
Doolittle’s Raiders: B-25j loadout of choice per target – BASED at F191
Nightstalkers & Nomads: B-25j loadout of choice (recommend bombs & rockets) – BASED at F191

ORDERS:

Image

Doolittle's Raiders: Launch at T – 0 and proceed immediately North to CLOSE the radar facility at 186
after closure return to base dropping any remaining ordinance on the port at 187 Land and re-arm.

Second Sortie
This mission will be to go in with the T+120 bomb group (or follow) and destroy shipping in Cape Sata bay. Port 179 and Port 181 have MANY static ships between them (perhaps as many as 20 total) at 2 points each they are a juicy target that can be destroyed by ANY weapon. (small bomb / rocket or machinegun)
Priorities are: Anchored ships but if you need additional targets hit Docks & Industrial buildings. If you would like to take out the AA so that individuals may strafe and make rocket runs later that is up to you.
Fighter Cover will be assigned with additional units in the area.

Night Stalkers / NOMAD
Launch at T-0 and proceed north west at altitude up the 0.X line. Radar range is 60miles with a 300’ minimum alt. Use your wingmen individually, choose your targets and break off east under radar while the rest of your flight continues north. Strike shipping as found. Ports with many anchored shipping are your main targets (151, 149, 93, 95) If you find Mobile AI ships please report location. (all AI shipping will be armed)

FIGHTER SQUADS
you may switch roles between yourselves if desired but I needed to get something down on paper.
mass your forces as you can, all the targets will be in the same area so we should be able to support each other.
NOTE: how you accomplish your goals is up to you, you know what works best.

4th Fighter Group & American Eagles
launch at T+0 Cover the Doolittle Raiders as they hit the radar at 186
Prosecute enemy fighters to the fullest. return to base and rearm

second mission
Cover Doolittle Raid on ports 179 & 181 if enemy activity light, feel free to strafe down anchored ships after DR has dropped ordinance.

23rd Fighter Group:
Delay Launch as I need you to cover the T+30 B-25 raid to F183
If you can manage the fuel, you may launch and support the Doolittle raid as a reserve force but I need you to be able to stay and cover the AI raid.

regroup & rearm to cover T+120 raid at F182
DR will be attacking the shipping to the west of you. Please engage the enemy where found. If no activity you are free to strafe down anchored ships (2pts each)

Good luck everyone, please communicate as much as possible.
I will be arriving LATE as I have to pick up family at 8pm but should be there no later than 8:45

Salute!

Sounds like a plan.

Secondly, the drone wingman lurch could still be a problem, and I'll look at it as we have rain all day, so fishing is not a player. My theory is to try to command the stoopid critters to takeoff before me and then we rejoin. Other technique I'll try is to order "form up" as I taxi onto rwy then down a few hundered fet. Will report back tonight.

Gums...

In frame 1 Jabo granted us a 12k air start for just that reason, I am assuming the same in frame 2

OK, 4th will launch from the CVs in F6s. What did you plan for the CV AI mission?

Post subject:  Re: KHN Frame 2 Orders

There is no CV AI mission this frame..... it's either air force or navy for AI.

So there will be 2 X B-25 raids (T+30 & T+120) that leaves frames 3 for TBF and frames 4 & 5 for B-24s

Knocked down the airstart a bit so its not too unfair for the faster climbing IJ fighters.
10,000ft airstart for all that need it at 191.

AI mission B25Js and even more so B24Js will not be so easy to knock down as the TBFs. Not because they are tougher but because they have more defensive guns.

Correct Besea

I didnt want to say who does what as far as if a sweep in front is better or close/far... over inbetween.... I want you guys to work that out.
But protection of the DR strike is first mission priority. With everything close I hope we can all support each other.

password to open - hog

24 - B24Js starting at 2,2,5 area hdg toward F182 and then F183 at 16-18,000ft speed 224mph IAS
Launch at T+30 and T+120 return just east of where they went into Kyushu close to the CV TF.

CV TF starts at 4,3 cross and heads due N at 30 mph

NOTE - B25s do not work, they insist on diving down to the deck. Replaced with B24Js which stay high, most of them anyways.

Salute and Aye aye!

TNX for all the help JABO. The new everything is keeping all of us hopping, ya think?

Crying shame that the new critter control option combined with spawn points is not workable.

Secondly, we can no longer leave the S3 arena using that "parachute" button, and then fly offline using all the S3 settings that even include the latest damage and such. So I intend to raise this issue and could use all the support we can get. The buffers really need this in order to plan and assign pilots and eggs to specific objects. The lites do not need to do this, but they can sure as hell use the same procedure to plan for range, climb rate and other things.

Gusm whines....
