Flew B-25s out of F33 scouting for the enemy fleet. I was assigned the northern target area. Gofly & I were the first to roll, we gained altitude in separate directions eventually losing sight of each other. Gums & Gundoc rolled a few minutes later and headed off to their sectors.
I reached my assigned area with nothing in sight when suddenly the radio comes alive with Gofly contacting the enemy fleet. I turned to intercept and had to listen in as the enemy cap took down each of the planes in Gofly's flight. I was able to split my forces and attack separately. Unfortunately a change of tactics was brutally thrown up in front of us. The enemy decided to heavily CAP their forces and were in good positions to intercept me as I bore in on the targets. I was only able to drop two bombs, one of which hit a carrier. my flight was quickly reduced to just me but I was able to return to base to rearm. Somewhere in here I was given credit for shooting down an enemy plane.
Second flight was again piecemeal and was heavily intercepted again by the cap. Again I was able to only drop two bombs, one of which I believe hit a carrier but did not sink anything. The heavy cap again ground my flight down to nothing and I had to bail out over the enemy fleet.
Thanks to Gundoc who jumped into my bomber and gun, I believe he was credited with one or two enemy planes.
Only had two possible hits on CVs for losses of all but one airplane.
<S> to the Allies who came together on the fly every frame and did the best with each situation.
