S3 Series

The Frame split the activities of the Group into two distinctly different tasks. Mr. Juice= led a flight of stalwarts in the defense of Midway Island using the F2A. Mr. =Wilz= led the sweep escort fighters for the Strike Group off of the carrier task force. Locating the enemy fleet took a bit longer than would usually be expected, but then there was a 45 minute delayed departure for the fighters and the strike aircraft on the USN carriers.
While the carrier-borne pilots played cards in the shade of their wings awaiting their appointed launch time, Mr. Juice= was up with his flight from Midway sweeping the skies for signs of enemy fighters to engage. Ultimately it seemed like the entire Japanese Navy showed-up at Midway at one time or another. The F2As managed to disrupt the incoming flight to the extent that the IJN was never able to close the airfield at Midway or sink any of our carriers. The F2As were able to hold off the bad guys long enough that the 352nd Sweep Escort fighters off of the carriers were able to arrive nearby Midway and participate in some of the action there.

The Frame had a lot of waiting and searching time involved. Delayed departures don't work well to keep folks riveted their monitors. However, once airborne the Strike Force managed to sink (2) enemy Kaga-class aircraft carriers, and the escort fighters were able to claim a number of victories. All-in-all it seemed to be a well executed Frame by the Group.
