Post subject: | Frame 5 Planning Meeting? |
As of the time of this post, there is no volunteer for Frame 5 CO duties. As an combined Allied Force, we gotta put something together so that all of our Squads have some idea of what to plan for with the aircraft remaining in inventory. For the fighter groups who mainly flew similar aircraft in each Frame, "choices" are limited to "what's left that we haven't flown?" Any Group COs or flight planners interested in attending a TS planning meeting on Wednesday the 13th at 5:30 PM Pacific, 8:30 PM Eastern? The 352nd can make our frequency available on the iENT TS server. As a Group, we will have to determine who is on V-1 intercept duty, who has bomber escort, and where the buffs are going to go. Hitting V-1 sites in Frame 5 might be "interesting" but certainly won't prevent any V-1s from flying in "Frame 6". Which targets have the best access and the most targets in the most concentrated area would likely be the best selection as it's all BDA in this Series, no "extra points" for field closures per se. I'm sure that there will be any number of experienced players who would be willing to provide assistance if some squad or individual wishes to come forward. I'll see anyone interested on Wednesday. |

Same start time as a S3 Frame. "7:30, Eastern, US" is "early" on the West Coast, US, and some are not off work as yet. Maybe a 4th flight planner who is in the US could attend? It's certainly optional, but it would be nice if the various Squads could provide input. |

Meeting Minutes: The planning meeting was attended by the 23rd FG and the 352nd FG. Discussion of the various Squad roles and possible targets for Frame 5. The 23rd has had good luck in a previous frame with V-1 intercept and they agreed that they would take on that task for Frame 5. Thought was given to what type of targets should be taken on in the Final Frame. With the exception of "limiting" V-1 flights DURING the Frame 5, there is no reason to attempt to knock down the ability to fly the V-1s in Frame 6. That led to a discussion of the possibilities of keeping the buffs close to home and going for targets on the North coast of the continent. Our buffs could go for targets like 42,43, 56, 65, make a left turn outta Dodge, and come back and do in again if necessary. The hope was to keep the various AI buffs alive by inviting the enemy fighters to come out over the North Coast, and to have a rather short trip back home for the buffs, who cannot be chased over England proper. The 352nd and the Fourth could perform a bar cap escort to keep the bad guys out assisted by the RCAF and the 8th. Allied shipping is nearby so anyone on that duty could assist with reception escort, or leave the buff escort IF the bad guys happened to come after the ships. Stalkers could go for targets of choice. Additional observations are solicited. Any individual or Group who would like to perform Frame CO duties is welcome to take this idea, and claim Frame CO credits. It was observed that high altitude drops due to AAA would be required in this area. |

The Raiders are composite group and as such, we'd like to roll fighters in the last frame to shoot down V1 drones, if that is permitted. Very few of our guys get to fly fighters in the S3 and this would be the perfect scenario to do so. There really is no need for the bombers to in the air in frame 5, as you have pointed out. It appears that we did very well in frame 3 and 4 BDA, but we don't see anything in the game summary sheet showing our efforts. Is there a reason for this? <S> I will not be available for frame 5, but I have asked others to lead the gang. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Darryl <S> |

You are always welcome to make a "ATTN: Jabo" post on these boards when questions arise. Make your case the best you are able. I would only point out that while you, indeed, operate as a "combined group" that you are not currently "scheduled" that way. Having the good fortune to add less than a step of fighters to your Group, may be seen differently than the whole Squad flying rides that they were not "scheduled" to operate. It is a good thing to bring up, as whoever ends-up planning this Frame will certainly want to know IF bomber aircraft are available. The Janitors are always the final decision makers on items obscure or not in the Rules. S3 Clarifications - the S3 staff reserves the right to make a ruling on questions or game situations not answered completely or missed by the rules. For further clarification please post on the S3 forum This post from Phenix may have come out slightly after your original post. I'd say that Phenix is offering quite an "attaboy" here. phenix wrote: Lancasters with only 6 losses (including AI) took out 68 targets. Typhoons knocked down several V1's. LW 110's went 11 for a loss of 5, but Mustangs went 14 for 5.

As always RCAF 127 Wing will fly what ever and wherever we are needed. Think we still have only the Thunderbolt left to fly. Swede- |

The 23rd also only has Thunderbolts remaining in our inventory. I would like to thank dewolf for posting the minutes of the meeting and remind everyone that the CO position is indeed open for the frame if anyone feels strongly about the season finale and their role in it. |

The 4th FG has Spitfire XIV left for frame 5. We will do our best to accomplish any mission profile. The P-47D-25 is 8 mph slower than the Typhoon at 5000 ft but still 17 mph faster than the Spit IXe, so the Jug should be able to do the job of catching V1's for the 23rd. <S> /Robert |

Thank you, DEW. I will see what Jabo and company will have to say about it. It's one of those moments in the S3 that don't come along for us turtle plane pilots and worth asking. |
