 Post subject: Frame 3 CO AARP

last night's frame was intense, the LW did all they could to defend fields: 63,59,50,57, as these were important v1 storage depots that were crucial for v1 campaign effort against London. the DRs has bomber technical problems at the beginning of the frame and escorts pushed ahead to clear the way for buffs when they were able to get in the air. about almost halfway through the frame the DRs were finally underway to there targets. the 352nd ran into enemy LW fighters and and i as frame CO sent the 4th to rescue the 352nd out of harms way. then the 4th RVed with the buffs along with 3 352nd fighters to protected the buffs from enemy fighters then all buffs rtb for fuel and bombs. the buffs closed f59, f57 on the first sortie also. on the 2nd sortie i had to face a tough choice as the frame CO on rather have the escorts wait on the buffs to get in the air and risk running out of fuel and my second choice was have them go ahead of the buffs and get alt for the escort mission. so i decided on going with my 2nd option and both escorts groups got alt and RVed with the buffs and they when off dar for a little while and then closed f50, f63 on the second sortie. all buffs were accouted for on the return trip back to England. the 352nd 5 aircraft. 4th FG lost 6 aircraft. but as far as our v1 interceptors go, the 23rd lost only 2 aircraft. the RCAF lost noe. in all we had only lost a total of 13 aircraft during the entire frame. but sadly the Axis still won the frame by destroying London with huge loss of civilian life from V1 rocket attacks.

Nice write up, however, between the 23rd and RCAF there were at least 53 confirmed kills of V-1s, not bad for only 10 pilots between us, don't think the entire frame was lost on that count.

True! But the axis still won because of loss of civilian life in London from V1 strikes.

Never thought I'd see the day in the S3's that scripted Ai's would win a frame. I hope that's not the case.

In 1944 the problem was "AI" aircraft were striking England with impunity. The air commanders had to figure out how to balance hitting the V1 storage and launch facilities against shooting down those missiles that were launched.

V1s getting through to London are only a part of the equation. With respect to the game rules the frame COs need to look at all factors Jabo has laid, consider them carefully, and direct execution of appropriate tactics. If the number of V1s getting to target is winning it for the axis, then the frame COs need to reassess where we are committing the balance of our forces. That doesn't necessarily mean shooting down V1s. We may, or may not, have missed the mark focussing on V1 launch sites or V1 storage facilities. I haven't looked closely at the scoring for targets destroyed. Have we been hitting the right targets to get the best bang for the buck??

So far, the points summary of the frame is not complete. It doesn't show any of the four V1 depot or launch sites destroyed, nor does it show a win or loss to either side. Take a deep breath and let's wait for the final numbers.

Does anyone know how many V1 rockets get launched during the night? If we shot down over 50 and over 40 got through, it looks like around 100.

They picked up 46 points from V1 strikes and 35 points for shooting down 7 bombers. Contrary to what we're hearing about the buff tuff, I see our Air bombers going down fairly easily. They are losing several fighters to our guns when they attack, but it isn't a wipe out.

I was just making a point and that I never thought the game would get so low in turnout that we'd have to use Ai's. (whether buffs or V'1s). Just an old fart that's been around in the 250 player S3's when we didn't need them.

Those were the days.

Of course the donkey does the best he can to make the game interesting for both sides and has for many years. He's does the best he can with the game he has. He always gets a hearty Thank You...especially after a couple times when I chewed him a new arse. :P

Can't always agree can we? :lol:
