Salute!

From Sepua's idea, let's get a strategerie, huh?

An airfield is worth same as losing 3 buffs!!! But we have to play with the cards we're dealt.

Nevertheless, we have a chance hitting both a field and some cranes at F69 as a warm up. Maybe our lawyer, DeWolf, can check it out, but both look legal.

Using the North Sea route outta DAR is a well-known route to the LW, but gives NS and many lites a chance to hunt AI and wreck mayhem. This is 'cause it will about an hour to get there.

Need DR to chime in, and Mt-Dew to suggest a mission for his outfit.

We have not flown much lately with close escort and dedicated opposition on the ETO style missions. So we need beginner steps this first frame, ya think?

Gums sends....

My initial thoughts:

1) Nomads + Raiders coming from 3,7,8,5 and hit L44, swing south and also hit S58 and getta hell outta there to the NW.
352nd and Raiders fighters as escort; risking 90 points (18buffs) for 30 (2 fields)

*gums: if we are to stay at their DAR for 40 miles, this route give us 2 targets, instead of 1 and less time for them to react (as if they don't know from were we will come from^^^^

2) Night Stalkers hit shipping at 6,7,4; risking 20 points (4 buffs) for times 5 per ships.

3) 32rd and 4thFG protect our frontier and hunt for their JU's (It's cool to fly a Me, but if the get serious about closing our fields, I believe they'll need more firepower).

HowBouDat?

We need to be careful with this rule and target planning:

7. Aircraft Types - each squad has a list of a\c types in the A/C Table that they may fly during a series. Every pilot must fly at least two of these a/c types during the series.

Typically what limits us on target planning is the range of the fighters. If I recall correctly P51s are good for long range targets. Then P47s mid to short range. P38s short range only and I think the Spits are about useless.

So in Frame 1 if you want to go to Berlin you need the P51s and that counts as (1) P51 ride. In Frame 2 if you go to Berlin again you need P51sand thats (2) P51 rides. Now by Frame (3) you have to fly a different fighter plane say a P47 so you need a shorter target.

So keep this in mind for planning this Frame and the rest down the road.

nice tip, Sir.

Planning on put everybody in their 2nd choice a/c for frame 1… then we'll have 4 frames to hit 'em with the best we get ;-)

Flying like this out of DAR for most part ~ 600 mile (320 to target) round trip - we could be over target at T+ 82ish and RTB by T+150.

I don't see why you'd have to fly a different aircraft in the 3rd frame. Looks to me like you can fly 4 frames in a P-51, and 1 frame in any other elligible aircraft. As long as you wind up having flown 2 different types of aircraft over the course of the series, you are safely within the rules... right?

Salute!

I don't see either 44 or 58 as valid/legal tgts per Donkey rules. Gotta have those steeekeeeng "stars" on the legal targets.

Per JABO on the "points" thread"

Quote:
On the map the target locations with stars and shipping icons are the only targets available. So Allies need to hunt shipping and AI transports as they will be moving. There will be AI a/c at LAFs so some strafing is needed here to get them regardless if they are the target of the heavies.

I chose 69 due to North Sea route and two "counters" within a few miles, then we haul butt straight west for home. Later frames we will have to go deeper, but this could be a good warm up when LW gets 5 pts per buff, and even a large field is only 15 pts. Stooopid rules.

I realize that those with "light attention span" won't like the buffs hitting until one hour into the frame, but that's the way it was in the old days for real, maybe 2 or 3 hours.

Seems there's plenty to do for the plethora of lites we have while we grab and such.

Where is the said ponits therad? Seem to me it only refers to shipping targets. The main rules are simple enough bout the fields. no? what am I missing?

PDF Planning Map Layer entitled: Allied Targets and Ju 52 Routes.

An alternate layer is "Axis Targets and C-47 Routes". If either are toggled, all of the stars and arrows on the overlay disappear. Our targets are the green stars, their targets are the gold stars and the transport planes fly along the arrows. This is a Tinker, Tailor Series in which both sides have the save intel.

This advert for Muzz' latest offering is also a clue in regard to "valid targets":

Muzz's Maps

Inflight map identifies the front, allied and axis targets, shipping, AI routes and 262/Buff bases.

See you in the unfriendly skies.

Rules
7. Aircraft Types - each squad has a list of a\c types in the A/C Table that they may fly during a series. Every pilot must fly at least two of these a/c types during the series.

The Janitors either directly, through clarifications, or by answering our questions almost always tell us what the "Rules" are. They rarely dictate how we are to accomplish them.
No matter which sequence each pilot's two airplanes are flown, aircraft endurance is a factor that must be considered in mission selection .

Happy trails...
