From Jabo's overview

Quote:
3. Limited bases for Me262s and Allied Heavy Bombers.
4. Points scored for closing airfields, destroying both player and AI a/c, sinking ships and destroying bridge spans and port cranes.
5. Due to all the attached targets in the ETO airfields must be ruled closed.

Well, looks like hitting the large fields for points is a crap shoot. We won't even know if it's closed for a few days if our updates are like last few series. OTOH, the AI planes there count for something.

I can only find 2 or 3 bridges for the Allies to hit. Of course, they keep on giving points, depending on rebuild time. And it's "spans" down and not "closed" criteria. Still appears that all the spans must be down, but will have to look at some using CMEYE and "grndlabels".

The port tgts seem to be only the cranes there, if I am reading the law correctly. So there's something for high altitude buffs, and even the small Nomads ( figure 4 of us).

Due to the ack, the boats might also be high altitude buff missions.

We may see most points with the A2A battle, although the LW have more bridges to hit with their jets and the Knights' JU-88's.

I'm not sure what jabo has in mind here? From an early look it seems to me our strategy can allow the funneling and controlling of the Knights ability to control their jets. They have 4 jet airfields that are all well within our range. We certainly have a numerical advantage of coordinated fighter groups. I see an early frame goal of closing 2 of the four jet airfields. The DRs can hit one while the strikers and one of the big three fighter squads hit another. That leaves one FG to dedicated bomber escort and the other to capping and hunting the jets as they return to the two remaining airfields. If they decided due to fuel or threat to land elsewhere they are too far west and done for the night. Since the fields closed will remain closed it will be much harder on them in subsequent frames.

Will try and make it so the fields close during play but its hard with the ETO and all the attached industry targets. You need all the structures except the tower at LAFs to have it ruled closed.
On the map the target locations with stars and shipping icons are the only targets available. So Allies need to hunt shipping and AI transports as they will be moving. There will be AI a/c at LAFs so some strafing is needed here to get them regardless if they are the target of the heavies.
The Luftwaffe will be going after the tac fields and bridges and Antwerp port with their fast 262s. They will know you want to close their 262 fields so expect them to be the focus of their defense.
I am pretty sure we are down to the Night Stalkers as the only dedicated strike squadron. It appears that the MFs are no more. So some fighter squads may have to help out on strafing runs or hunting transport a/c.

Well, using Donkey rules, F69 cranes and field seem valid tgts for the heavy buffs. So I shall propose that tgt complex for massive buff strike for Frame 1.

6 cranes at the port and field may be easier to close than I originally.

Does testing show that shipping is actually a viable target? In the last Series they were a waste of time and ord for little to no reward at all. Our Group was only able to sink ONE ship the whole Series. A total of 39 freighters and ONE destroyer were claimed by both sides in during the Series.

Actually, Wolfie, we had more points versus boats than trying to close LW bases and other stuff.

We changed strategy after getting hammered by lites in our buffs and we had a tuff time closing anything of value. So Nomads and NS and some DR started after the boats. most of the LW was typically in the stratosphere, and we could use the faster Mossies and zip in and zip out. The things had better legs than the Russkie steel. Look at the PDF from main forum update and see how things changed.

The fields are worth only 3 boats!! And we don't even know if we got the points for 3 days or more.

Then the Axis gets points for each buff shot down, and losing 3 on a typical raid is normal. It ain't a fair trade.

Oh well, just looking for legal targets, and the "authorized" tgts are clearly shown for the other side to see. GASP!!! So a mix prolly best, but nail the boats early.

Well… this will be my 1st time as frame CO, so I'll take it from Gums idea and try to develop the plan from there. Any thoughts and help will be greatly appreciated.

From the points table I'll prioritise protection of our buffs and closing 2 fields. But I can't stop drooling when I see that a boat worths 5 points…

I'll try to have a final plan no later than sat, morning.

Suggest that you start a Frame 1 Planning/Orders thread. That would consolidate Frame One comments from "general" comments about points.
