My, Oh, My! Don't you just love it when a plan comes together. This was my second time in the "Big Chair" and you guys made it look easy! To All Hands: Outstanding Job Well Done! Preliminary reports: Three IJ fields closed( F136, F137 and F145) about 50 IJ aircraft destroyed, many IJ small boats sunk. NO US CV's or DD's damaged or sunk and low aircraft losses for USN/USAAF forces. Bombers and escorts started out on the left end around ingress route (after the FUBAR airstart, no AIs) and, as hoped for, made it all the way into the target without any IJ air opposition. Buffs closed airfield F136 and destroyed F137 down to one building. (A late frame group effort closed F137). Ki84's showed up on the buff's egress and inflicted some damage but B-29 tailguns killed some and sent the rest away. Escorting 4th engaged the Ki 84s and kept them away from B-29's. B-29's RTB'd to F188 and started a second sortie but time ran out in the frame about 2 min away from target. Good second effort! Great effort and results guys! At the CV's 23rd and 352nd launched and climbed as hard as they could. As predicted, IJ forces came for the Cv group from two directions. The 352nd engaged the first group then the 23rd engaged just as the second IJ group arrived. The sky was full of IJ planes going down. While recycling, F4U's spotted incoming low level IJ torpedo bombers after an intense on the deck fight, all IJ bombers were shot down. Both the 23rd and 352nd scored on the IJ buffs. Later in the frame after a long running fight with IJ fighters a group of Kami buffs got spotted and again the CV F4U CAP shot down all of them. The final results: No CV's DD's damaged or sunk. Outstanding work CV CAP! After the Kami raid IJ air opposition was minimal so a free for all started for the USN/USAAF forces. The Japanese coast was attacked. F145 was closed, F137 was closed, and IJ coastal shipping damaged or destroyed. At least this is how the CO remembers it, any errors in this report are mine and mine alone. Thank you again for an Outstanding effort, it was my honor to CO all of you this frame. Fencer (CO Fame 4) 352nd FG 487th FS "Second to None" PS: A big Thank you to Dewolf, Gofly, Gums and Sqtc for the TS preliminary meeting. The ideas and info you all provided led to a very successful frame. |

Great job Sir. Biggest problem Nomads had was the fact we did not have a air start from 188 but rather all the way down on the 10 line.. Also, we did not have any AIs with us. Thanks for sitting in the big Chair--ya done good Sir. |

Massive victory for the Allies. First frame they actual won but it put them in the lead. Well done Fencer. Not sure what was going on with the remote spawn. It kept booting me when I tried to remove it but it said it was removed so I hoped for the best. Later on it again booted me but at least removed the remote spawn. Not sure why there were no AIs. Maybe they cannot figure out where the remote spawn is. Will forward to SPINDZ for review. |

Salute! We buffs do not need an air lurch if we could carry less gas!!!! Sheesh. Just 4 % of the B-29 gas would have equaled the 2 x 1,000 pounders we jetted in order to increase climb rate to 400 fpm or so. Still had trouble getting above 28K by the IP. As with 95% of all FM's since v 1.1, our buffs are very sensitive to weight. So last time we used the rwy at IWO, we took a lot less gas and still reached the islands at 30K with a full load. Complicating the goat rope even more were a few buffs getting the lurch over F188 while reast were 60 miles southwest hauling butt to the RV. Only saving grace was being late caught IJN recovering from first boat attack. Gums sends... |
