4th upped 13 + 1 and another later all in Jugs because of the "glass tail" issue with the pony. Something wrong there as that portion of the flight model should never have been touched. Anyway the airstart helped except the bombers appeared to get scrambled and it took awhile for them to get organized. We RZed near the 7,6,2 later than planned but in time to get ahead before the IP. We were engaged at the IP 7,7,2 and once again the IJN came in from much higher than even our high flight which could only make it to 35k. Resigned to wait and let them come to us so we didn't get any kills but kept most of them away from the BUFFs. Thanks to Jedi who suckered 6 of them well away. Lost 3 to diving zekes. Continued escort back to Iwo while trying to set up a second mission. Launched with 30 minutes to stop attack time and made it to the target with 2 minutes to spare even though potential target changed twice in flight. No opposition. |
