127 Wing, with elements of the 416 VVS and 417 VVS upped at T+ 5 with 7 pilots under strict orders to attack and close F11. We headed out with our trusty P 39Qs with 1-500 pound bomb, NOE to the industrial complex to the SE and then at wave top height down the Kuban. We encountered our first ack just west of F11 from the bridge with no casualties, we popped on 11 and finding no opposition we began to eliminate targets, first the ack then other targets of opportunity. We lost one pilot to AA, and caused some destruction to F11 but did not want to overstay our welcome and with ammo running low bugged back to F18. We lost another pilot who pranged his prop into the water, and ditched but was captured. The rest landed safely at F18, and after a slight delay 5 of us reupped for a econd attempt on 11. A quarter of the way there we lost two pilots to discoes, with no damage, and three of us proceeded to the target NOE down the river, just as we were about to pop, cons were spotted to our 1 oclock high and we immediately turned southerly to hopefully avoid detection. But luck was not with as the 352nd soon dropped all three of us (KIA) One pilot back from the earlier disco proceeded down the Kuban till he to was caught by the 352nd. The other pilot wisely decided to rtb and stand down against the cap now being brought in to 11 area.
We were 5 pilots short this evening due to the holidays and a real nasty ice storm in the Toronto area which left them without power. Really d think if they had been there we could have closed 11 on the first sortie as not many targets were left up.
The officers and men of the 127 Wing (401,416 and 417) RCAF wish to all a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
Thanks to the S3 "godz" for keeping us entertained and frustrated this past year.
<S> to Daryll for his quick plan.

Hey SWEDE! I didn't realize you didn't have your full squad with you. I know for sure if you did, you would have easily closed F11. If you had been able to get back in there on that second sortie, it would have gone down. Thanks for the effort and willingness to keep going.

Merry Christmas to the RCAF 127 <S>

I wasn't able to fly as the power went out in Many parts of Toronto last Sunday. We were leaving town for Christmas, so it was not a big deal, except we had to pack in the dark. There were 300,000 customers without power at the worst part. At 1800 hours on Sat Dec. 28, 18,000 customers are without power and are expected to all be connected by Tuesday. Some people would be without power for 10 days :o
