Here is a short comparison of the fighters. Feel free to use it to plan tactics against the different bandits.

Speed: 5k - 20k - 30k
109G6: 341 - 389 - 390 mph
C.205: 340 - 387 - 377 mph
C.202: 325 - 359 - 331 mph
Spit 9: 324 - 373 - 397 mph
P38-F: 333 - 380 - 376 mph

Turn Rate at deck
109G6: 19,6 sec/lap
C.205: 22,9 sec/lap
C.202: 18,5 sec/lap
Spit 9: 18,1 sec/lap
P-38F: 17,1 sec/lap

Climb Rate: 10k - 20k (150 mph)

Hey Robert, according to the run rate, the P38F has the best turn rate on the deck :o

That surprises me, I would have thought the Spit IXe and the 202 would be better.

Yep, old flightmodels are not very historical. Just look at the G6 climbrate :-). (should be more like 3100 - 2100 ft/min)

The P38, contrary to misinformation, has a big fat wing, low stall speed and excellent power to weight ratio.

It's foibles were roll rate and low critical Mach limiting its dive.

Stall speed, excess power and induced drag determine turn performance.

109 had a very good climb rate that's what gave it an edge even over the P-51. 4,000ft/min probably not, but not a slouch to all other aircraft. I need to look back at Reichlin data. German test also reveal a loss about 10-15kph with gondolas in level flight IIRC, not quite as much of an airbrake as some would believe. If you are referencing Allied test data it is even self describing as faulty. The radiators were broken from the belly landing. The engine was overheating quickly and max power, or even cruise was not achieved in long duration.
