Took off Malta...Flew 30 miles north...flew 1.5 legs of a 60 mile BARCAP.

Responded to Frame CO call to reposition West.

While enroute, responded to CO call to head further west.

Flew the 180 miles or so while listening to the 4th get run down, and doing our best to position our selves to intercept the enemy on RTB.

While still enroute heard 23rd get engaged while they were enroute to clear the 4th. Picked up 2 straggles sent a few down to kill, ended up getting jumped by High 109s and then Macchi's...

Pretty much had 3 small fighter groups fly into the ENTIRE Gold Fighter force one by one...

4th call that they were waiting for reinforcements was my only clue that the numbers were bad.

In the future, GCI please try to pass that information on to the FGs so they know what to expect. Wasn't until we lost our first one and he told us "you are like 3 to 1 right now" that we understood fully we had all the Axis fighters on us. I would have preferred to rendezvous with the 23rd then come into that mess...

300 miles to fly into the full strength of the Axis Fighter force...ouch...

Salute!

Sounds tough, Dobs.

I say BFD.

Best thing was the enema lites went after the Allied lites and we lowly buffs had better runs. heh heh.

PLZ keep on doing that!!!

Gums sends....

I called out those numbers as soon as they appeared, you were right on the edge of DAR range, so they appeared on my DAR and were only 5 miles from you. When you went in, you had a plane or two on the NME I saw. :o

You did a great job defending against those large numbers however :)
