Post subject:  T3 Frame IV Orders

I would like to bring the numbers to our advantage so we can support each other as if we are one large squad. All squads will fly in the designated areas as indicated on the map. Please spread out and racetrack around your zones until we have spotted the enemy. We will all communicate on TAC 6. We are looking for the bombers first. Do no engage with the zeros unless they become aggressive.

Each squad should send out a pair of scouts no further west than the 4 vertical in hope to get a better set of eyes to what's out there.

DO NOT USE FIELD 2, 5 OR 12 TO DITCH... THEY ARE CLOSED !!!!

23rd - Field 14. Roll at T+0 and climb hard. You are to be in the black area to patrol for enemy inbound. Try to be in that zone by T+20

475th - Field 16. Roll at T+0 and climb hard. You are to be in the red area to patrol for enemy inbound. Try to be in that zone by T+20. You are at Field 16 so the P36 is yours if you want it.

LF-6 - Field 11. Roll at T+0 and climb hard. You are to be in the yellow area to patrol for enemy inbound. Try to be in that zone by T+20

If any one squad becomes overwhelmed by Zeros and are in danger, you need to call it out and the other two squads will divert if available.

Good luck to all. Any changes will be made in RED

Any questions please post below.

Sorry for late orders this week but the Flu has kicked my ass.

23rd FG copies all. I don't think the Kates will climb in excess of 15K and will be tight so they should be visible a good ways away. Data mining indicates @ 40min from frame start the bombs will be falling....

475th Copies all..

Is the P-36 an all or none airframe?

Quote:
5. Squad Aircraft - each squad may fly any of the aircraft listed for them in the A/C table. Only one type per frame though. In Frames 2 and 4 the P36C will be available from only Wheeler Field. The squad that initially starts there may choose to fly the P36C or the P40B. No plane switching once you launch in an a/c type.

Here is the rule but it does not clarify all or a mix...

Jabo, please respond...

The 352nd flew a mix of P-36 and P-40 in Frame 2 so there should be no problem with a split formation

Thanks Dawger ....

475th will have a choice of mix, just don't switch mid frame.

You are most welcome.

I like the plan and wish I was going to be there to fly it.

Since I am intimately familiar with the FM's I would like to reiterate that the P40 best altitude is 10 to 20K where it holds a speed margin and is able to dive away. Once you get below 10K the speed margin is minimal and enemy within visual range will stay within visual range down low. Below 5K the Zeke holds all the cards. The P40 will not perform above 25K while the A6M2 has no problem climbing to 33K and performing fairly well up there.

The P36 SEEMS like an uber ride but it isn't. It turns slightly better than the P-40 because it has a better power to weight ratio but it cannot turn with an A6M2. It is a total dog above 15K as it has a very low altitude motor. Its guns are weak and the A6M2 damage model much stronger than it should be. The P36 may be slightly more survivable in a low altitude fight but against greater numbers it will be easily surrounded. The bombers COULD come in at an altitude above the effective ceiling of the P36 if they choose to get a clue (Personally, if I were strike lead I would put the bombers on the deck with every fighter in visual range of them so that any attack by us is trapped against the floor where the A6M2 is easily the victor)

You can mix and match the P36 and P40 in the one squad allowed them.

Sorry I missed F5, it is closed as well. You are going to have to central to Pearl but most of the good targets are there anyway.
