OK for frame four I think we need to tighten up the communication and coordination between the buffs and the fighters. As the frame CO for this frame, I will try to be the relay of who's where and what is needed for optimal protection of our assest's. I've learned in frame 3 that the F6F-5 does not have much time over target. We (the fighters) need to start egress (from truk) with about 18 - 20 minutes of fuel so that we are not cutting it to close with multiple landing attempts on the CV's. I think the bombers need to already be inbound with close support and a high cap in front to scout. If we can get the bombers in at the same time as our fighters then we could create confusion and take out more zero's. I understand that for the most part all orders are put 2nd when we are on the defensive, but we need to try to get the buffs out and on the way back home. To the Bomber group / group leader. I would like you to plan a route with time hacks / targets like you did in frame 3 and submit it to me so that I can plan a fighter route to coincide with what you have come up with. If you would like to get together on TS to talk it over please let me know so I can arrange time before it gets too late in the week. |

dr. dart sir. One big issue we had this frame was the late end-around the IJ did to get to the Buff;s. The IJ know that we have limited time and that the TBD's are so bloody slow. It is hard for the fighters to stay with the buff's we either get to target before them or leave them on the return leg. Frame 3, the second run, the 23rd must have been sitting up north just off our DAR and waited for the fighters to sweep ahead. They then dropped behind and hit the buff group. just a comment to watch out for. |

for your consideration sir ~S~ Target LAF13 Why? It is the largest scoring field in play and one of the easiest to take down (see Planning Tool Thread in this forum). Experience says we are only good for one sortie in this series. It's a 82 minute round trip for the bombers if flown very precisely. i.e. Mostly at 100% with about 20 miles of the climb out w/ BOOST1. This series does not really leave room for making anything shorter. I am all for suggestions. The route and timings image : https://www.dropbox.com/s/cn4zyaac6a8vktm/oh41_route.png?dl=0 DTF version for test (make sure to log on to S3 arena and logoff ): https://www.dropbox.com/s/lwhil6roigelq2n/oh41.dtf?dl=0 EDIT: 3/3 - 10:05AM PDT - Please download files again. Slight mistake in calculations corrected. round trip is 82 minutes EDIT: 3/5 - 06:40PM PDT - Please download files again. Slight mistake in calculations corrected. Time hacks in image with large font. round trip is 81 minutes |

I have a bullseye map with Joker/Bingo range rings for the F6F Joker (for this map) is defined as fuel in gallons to fight 10 minutes at full throttle and then fly home at FULL throttle (10,000 feet) I may alter the definition slightly for the next frame. Bingo is fuel to fly home at 75% throttle at 10,000 WITH NO RESERVE Obviously the fighters can stay longer than the Joker amount but fuel is critical at the Bingo amount. A trip around the CV takes about 2 gallons Here is a screen shot of the map The brown rings are 10 miles apart centered on the 6 line on the map edge. The white numbers are Joker/Bingo. This information is very helpful in making snap decisions on fuel status. I will post a link to the dds file itself after orders are posted and I make the final version for this frame. |

The bomber group should be on the same page with what noflys has come up with and I assume have been communicating together since there has not been a TS meeting this week. I will have the fighter plans out tomorrow to coincide with the time hacks that noflys has supplied to me. Sorry I have been crazy busy this week with a recent death in the family and most of my spare time has been tied up with that. Dawger can you link a dtf for your map. |
