Quote:
N Scramble - the IJN may only launch 12 a/c to patrol the Truk area at T+0. The remaining IJN a/c must wait at their airfields or CVs until either a visual ID for USN aircraft is reported or cons spotted on Japanese radar and confirmed by the CM. IJN fields will identify all aircraft(NOE or not) within a visual range of 15 miles. All remaining aircraft may then roll.

Hence the forward sweep gives us away earlier allowing all their aircraft to be up.

Instead if we all arrive together they are forced to wait the initial 13 minutes or so and while a couple groups engage the scouts others can get over target with an alt advantage.

Thoughts?

This does seem to give an ability to keep them lower if we don't penetrate dar.

A forward of main group about one half square sounds good.

If we are trying for two strike sorties than yes I agree the primary FGs should hold and wait for us to climb. There can be NO issue of fuel problems when the Tubs are in the target area.

I'm still not a fan at all of climbing while in dar thought. Hawks orders say 15k but noflyz route will have us low and slow while entering in radar. I would much rather us climb N/S and get to 15k prior to entering radar.

I agree with that - be a slaughter otherwise IMO

Noflyz,

That depends on the definition of forward sweep is? I just want them out front a bit to take care of any fighters coming our way.

But fighter time is limited to 76 minutes. At 67 minutes we are on the border of what they can handle. We could get to 15k in another 10 minutes.

Also by my 10k based route we enter dar after leveling out.

Hawk's call ultimato

Well, it's a team effort guys. Can we delay the escorts in hopes to save them some fuel?
