Gents.... Strike A/C please let me know how you want to attack these targets so the Fighters can cover you .
Will use this thread as the order thread with changes as necessary.
Need which CV, or field the strikers want and will have fighters on the other.
I would like to get this settled by Sat evening, so chime in here.

Since we have no replies as yet, I propose the Strike groups with their Group fighters use the southern CV and all FIGHTER groups ( 4th, 23rd and 352nd use the Northern CV. All fighters in F6F with 100% internal.
352nd will be forward sweep and scout killers, while the 23rd and 4th will cover the NOE strikers, but not right
in with them. Once I know which attack course will be used by strike, I will adjust fighter position to not compromise their position. More later.

To expand on Mt-dew's idea; how about the 3 FTR Grps launch and climb high ,then head into Truk from NE, SE and E to arrive at same time and hopefully clear most of IJN ftrs? I would suggest kepping alt as much as possible
ie..keep the fight high where the hellcat can outrun the Zeke. The strikers can launch second sortie with their ftrs and remainder of 1st 3 groups. Diversion is not ruled out, but we will know if we have air superiority, or not.

Sorry have been out of pocket, travel early in the week and too much to catch up.

Here's a picture of the DAR situation real and NOE Donkey DAR. It's pretty much impossible to take out DAR. If you see the inventory for all the fields there are several of them with an Radar EM and taking out any one does not help much.

Would be great to have a working summary sheet w/ points to various targets. I'll try to come up with a list of fields that can go down easily later tonight.

For Frame 1 Allied CV groups will have two CVs in them. One starting at 12,11,1 and the other at 12,8,1 both groups hdg 180 at 20 mph.

Targets should be AI and static shipping for the most points. Closing ports, docks and airfields score good points but are harder to accomplish. The outlying smaller fields score points but not near as much as these. IJN will need to knock down your aircraft to score the majority of their points so strikes have to be coordinated and go in with strong escort.

Good Luck

Happy trails...

10. AI Routines - extra IJN shipping will be either be anchored or moving in, out or through the Truk area. AI DDs will look the same as static DDs but they will shoot at you so treat all DD targets with care.

Note that this is not the same as the ships and boats found in the F21 vicinity. These are fixed assets that belong to either the Cargo, Boat or Capital category and do not bring individual points. These need to go down to close the associated fields. The way to distinguish these (besides the fact that they don't look like DDs) is they have a label like F021CM001 etc.

The fact is we don't know exactly where the shipping is going to be. So we need to send out scouts to find them. Testing offline shows that the AI wingmen drop torps when the pilot does so this should be useful.

I think we plan something like bombers with torps. get out the ships and hang out of dar range south, we send in a couple of scouts and high fighters north hopefully this will find the ships and attract the enema and then of course our fighters will kill them all!

~S~ Sir! Problem is we don't know the target. We have to find them in flight. Please see my previous post

why dont we just pound static shipping? It is known where they are and they are easy to kill.

My take on this is.....it's the fighters series to win or lose. Clearly it is designed to be a slugfest chest match. Since this is the first frame much will be learned. I would have no problem with all our fighters going in (like they did in real life) and sweeping the place. Leave the strikers on the boats. Let them do their fighter shit without having to consider covering strikers. It's only 80 to 100 miles to the island so one sortie wouldn't kill us to wait. NS's could fly fighters along with the Knight fighters to help cover the strikers on follow up sorties. See how the first sortie goes and react from there. No one is hiding so this is about air supremacy. We either have it or we lose lots of strikers.

I think the TBDs should be retired. They are nothing but a death box and I don't know of an instance where they were used after the slaughter at Midway.

The boats and ships off the ports are not static shipping as far as I know. They are field assets. JABO please correct me if Im wrong but to count as a
target it needs to be an AI ship. Static simply means they have a speed of 0mph.

I am in favor of hitting the ships like you said with the NS.

Just need to know where we are lifting from.
